I still say do it. I have found old houses out in the boonies that no one has lived at for 10 years with cars literally sinking into the ground. Lots of VWs. My buddies were into them, and had checked with authorities...they said that no one had heard from the owner of the property in years. So people took all the parts they could for years. The property got purchased by a developer who squished them all. The same is bound to happen. At some point, whatever usable parts are still there will get squished. Stock pile as much stuff as you can. Like I said before, don't try to profit from it but feel free to provide the parts to others who can use them. Somebody should use parts before they are ruined. I see it as a public service. You didn't steal them. If the local cops know about it, then they don't have interest in using resources to get them out of there anytime soon. Make an effort to get VINs to turn in, cuz it may finally settle someones case that could still be open. By taking parts from a place to die, and letting them keep other trucks on the road...I see it as a good thing. Thats just me.
your kill'n me Agreed. If the cops say "doit" then go for it. At least you are sure your good to go. Its still PRIVATE PROP and your trespassing and stealing. Au hell, by now you gotten all the parts anyway. Get a tetanus shot first. EDIT My apologize if I over reacted with my first post. It just brought back bad thoughts. And I totally understand my situation is not at all what Phil was suggesting.
Just check with the cops an go for it hell there just sitting in the middle of nowhere anyway. Honestly the cops probably won't do much anyway if you can't get back with your truck or car then neither can they an they probably won't try
Exactly. They will sit til the property sells, and some bubba with a cheek full of chew rolls in into a container with a backhoe. Then off to the squisher they go.
i snagged a 3gen seat and an s10 center console (incase i get some buckets nice enough to run) and a 2gen grill for my buddie. and some other miscellaneous stuff. (shift knobs, shift boots, cigarette lighter...etc) its alll located on state forest land. and i talked to a ranger, he didnt care whatsoever about my parts harvesting.
anybody want me to keep an eye out for something you pay shipping , and a small inconvenience charge (just for a poor guys gastank)
