Well...when me & my buddies took mine out we got the truck about 2 feet off the ground with blocks & jacks...trust me its easier that way lol. After that we used a sawsaw to cut the tranny mount about 2-inches from the frame. Then I used a grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the welds that held the mount to the frame. I had a plasma cutter, but to be honest it was more of a bitch to use than the grinder!! Oh & im not sure what tranny crossmember your going with, but use the one from CanDo cause its a lot easier to install. Best of luck with your build bro.

Lookin' good on the metal work but, uh, Speaking from experience (15+ years building railroad freightcars) were I in your shoes I'd SERIOUSLY consider gusseting those joints. If not on the drive shaft arch, then at LEAST on the new axle-arches.

Unsupported sharp angles like those are just BEGGING to break from all the pounding they'll receive...especially from a bagged ride. 1/8" thick flat plate gussets on both sides at the peak (triangle) and shoulders (angled 'L') would make me feel a lot more comfortable.

    Just my .02.;)

i would just use a plasma cutter if you have one and shorten the existing crossmember and brace it. itll be quicker and cheaper. looks good tho bro good job

The crossmember is to the top of my bed mounts ya it looks huge in tht pic but it's actually not all that high. It was higher before I cut it down an redid it. But I think after awhile I'm gonna be building a back half or stock floor it to the rocker. Then traditional it almost to the door. :) gotta be low as possible

O haha ya the trany one I'll probably just order from cando since I don't have a plasma an to route the exhaust with that thing would probably be difficult. An ya I wanna go like 1/2" from the doors or so. Stockfloor I'd loose like no head room an then with the traditional I'd only loose like an inch to an inch an a half

Got some new plans for the truck they'll be a long term thing. Plans are supra turbo motor with 6speed an IRS rear end an stockfloor bodied to the rocker or a little into it.

So I haven't done much to it lately but I might be getting a supra IRS this weekend. The dude said $70 for everything. It's comin off a 89 turbo supra. So plans are as of now stock floor body drop IRS full sheet metal bed interior an buy a long block and paint
