lol i have done this to many hondas in the past and cant really tell the difference. but any one remove there power steering crap ? or drive a truck with a system gone bad? 1993 yota standard pick up. let me know guys thoughts
my truck didnt have power steering and I added it... I almost regret it because it made the truck noticeably slower, its ugly as hell, makes the motor a little harder to work on and covers up my beautiful billet pulleys. but at the same time I really don't miss cranking the hell out of my wheel to make a u turn or parallel park and it really does make the truck more pleasant to drive...and I only paid 100 bucks for everything which made it worth while.
Yeah dude, I used to think "oh yeah ill delete ac and ps so I can free up some hp" ppffh screw that crap. When you get older and modify so many cars then daily drive them, it gets rough and you want that comfortness back. When I did the swap in my truck I added a 4runner ps gear box and love the fact that I did. when my truck is off and rolling, its almost impossible to turn the wheels with the heavy 2jz engine. but its like one finger turning with it on. The reason you probably cant notice it with or without ps in a honda is because the tires are very very small, you have rack&pinion steering, and they are light, thats what I think.
ive driven with it and without it....... the only difference i ever noticed was low speed crawl handeling. other than that a truck with GOOD steering components is VERY easy to drive...... even parallel parking. keep in mind the bigger the tire patch you have on the ground the harder it will be to turn so wide wheels and tires will push hard.
my p/s system has a leak somewhere. so i just cut the dam belt off and called it done. Even when i had my 19s it wasnt bad to drive. I stil need to pull the pump off tho. I shuda done it when i had the motor pulled apart
nothins better then working out while driving!!!! I have the part and pully but just havent had the time to put it on.
thanks guys. ill prob pull that crap out, not to realy free up any hidding hp, but the fact it looks like medusa with all them freaking hoses lol
Bmw Honda toyota... even my toyota has the 5 someodd lock to lock turning... I don't think I'd notice it like the others.
I added P.S. to a 82. And its simple to add or remove either way. Personally, PS makes a truck soooo civilized to drive. One handed drive thrus, parralell parkings a snap. ect. ect. The power and weight consumption is miscule compared to the luxury of the assist. But I just sprung a leak, so I disconnected the belt and have been driving like that for a few weeks. Its sucks! Your choice... I got 225/55ZR16s on the front, and they aint easy to turn.
I think you have to figure out what you want, does the luxury out way the cleanliness of the engine bay & the ease of working on your engine. I personally dont have it on my truck. I have the real power steering set up on mine, which is your powered by you. LOL
my GF is 4'10 and 95 pounds small girl.she drives my truck with no power steering with no problems and she handles it like a champ. i dont complain about power steering because im used to it and it isnt that bad and it actually feels better when handling turns because you can feel the turn more. i always wanted powersteering but i sed fck it because in hawaii people want 200 for a complete set or so and i think thats wack because some parts are broken etc etc. but oh well.
