So I seem to be having a problem with a couple of my SMC 3/8's Valves, but its only happening to the fill valves. Sometimes when I use them they make a really werid noise (kind of hard to explain without footage) almost like a dieing elephant?? Anyways it will make this noise sometimes, but when it does the bags dont fill, but instead lose pressure. Has anyone encounter this problem?
No there plumbed right, this is the 3rd time I have replumbed my whole system and they have done this before. I think im gonna take them apart tonight and see if maybe they need cleaned or if something is messed up inside. I dunno I just might try to see if I can get some video, cause this is really annoying. If worst comes to worst Im just gonna have to buy new valves.
Do you have enough voltage running to them? I'm running an AVS 9-way switchbox and when I first installed it I tapped into another wire temporarily and it didn't supply the 12 volts needed and my valves didn't operate correctly. So I ran the power wire straight to the battery and haven't had a problem since.
Take them apart & clean them...that should stop the problem. Ive used SMC valves for all my projects & if they get any dirt or rust in them then they **** up!! Make sure your tank is empy of water & rust as well too. Another good thing is to spray WD40 inside the valves & tank from time to time to evaporate water/moisture!!
Yea, the second time I plumbed my truck I thought maybe that noise had something to do with my switchbox, so I took it out and just wired them straight to the battery and just ran 4 switches. Still did the same thing. The cleaning deal could possibly be the problem. When I was plumbing the valves yesterday I had to take apart the valves in order to attach them to my tank. When I took the electrical part of it, the rod that went up into them was covered in dirt and rust. So I might just try taking them apart again and cleaning them, as far as the mechanical part of the valve everything looked good. Im gonna try that tomorrow and see if I have any luck. Thanks for the help.
Yep...dirt & rust on the solenoid/electrical part of the valve will cause it not to function like it should. I think once you clean them youll be ok.
