I would first check the fuel lines, fuel pump, filter, loose fittings. then check to see if there is a vacuum leak. try those first. might be something simple.

X2 on this & then start by replacing the distributor cap, rotor button, plugs, then wires.

I'd start with changing the fuel filter.
Go in from the passenger side wheel well. Remove any rubber shielding that is in the inner fender. There are 2 bolts holding it in. Be sure to use a backing wrench on the filter when removing the fuel lines.
And then make sure the battery is charging(alternator, terminals)

    Is it an EFI motor?

Check the intake pipe running from the VAFM to the Throttle body for any cracks or leaks. this must be completely leak free.

When does it run super rough?

    Check the ground wires.
There's a ground harness from the alternator harness to the engine block. Mine was loose and it tapped the motor, causing it to go haywire.
Another one is from the engine head/ block to the firewall.
Those are a few easy things to check.

Hopefully your ThrottlePositionSensor is in good shape.

Good luck sir, these are past things I've looked at and seem to be easy to check up on. Might as well take a peek when you're in there! good luck!

btw, when was the timing chain last replaced?

It's rough from idel to full throttle.... I don't know what has been done to this thing. I just started doing it. It's been running good until now... What do you want for 500 bucks.
