so there is this place up in the woods by my house where a local Wheeler/Chop-Shop is said to ditch their stolen toyotas after they gut them. i always thought this to be Folklore of a Toyota loving town, but while out wheeling/dirtbiking with some friends we found said "dumpsite".

now there are like eigh toyotas (like two first gens, a second gen and the rest are Tacos) scattered around, rolled, bashed in, and some somewhat burned, but there are many salvageable parts i.e. really nice Tacoma seats i want, glass, interior stuff....

here is the moral dilemma, should i just take it. i mean its already stolen once. and if it were to be recovered for the owner the missing pieces would make no difference due to the horrible state of the vehicles.

    what does TM think?

I say use whatever can be used, while it can still be used. Parts don't survive long out like that. Take anything else you think would be usable to members here or to your buddies. Just don't charge us for the parts :D

honestly i would be gutting anything i could off the old stuff. There is always a market for it. Rear glass is hard to find, doors, hoods, any interior. Even axles, engines transmissions if they are rare...

go to town, you didnt steal it, and for all you know someone could have just "ditched" it there cause they didnt wanna deal with getting rid of their car

Shoot ill take what ever you have for my truck, i can always use extra parts. i to found trucks in the back of the hills where i live and i have came across a cold air intake, billet grille, headlights, bumper lights for my wife truck, also tons of parts for my sisters car. So i say go ahead and take it, cause if you dont someone else will or it will just go to a junk yard or metal yard for scrap. But dont charge an arm and a leg for it.

So what your saying if you came across a man in the road that had been stabbed, hell someone else stabbed him why not stab him again:rolleyes2:. Instead you should get with local law enforcement and set up a sting to catch these worthless pieces of $h*t,that have no respect for others personal property. Phil the fact that you asked, tells me it was on your conscious that you should NOT do what the other posters suggested. Dude one day it could be your truck. I almost went to jail once for the injuries I inflicted on someone who broke into my shop. Then he said " I was just kiddin". Yea me too:lol:

ya your coming at it all wrong there. The cars and trucks out here that ive found have been reported and the local enforement know about them but they leave them out there, why i dont know but this truck and car i got stuff from had been left out there for about a year and a half. I go riding alot to and i talk to the law every once in awile to let them know what i find out there. plus couple of my close friends are cops or highway patrol. So it comes down to this, its up to you to make the decision. I can bet that if this is a big rumor over there about this spot then the law already knows about it.

And if i saw a man on the road stabbed and dying, just let em die. Hes already headed in that route no sense in making him do a complete U turn in life....

    Im with GDMan,

    Aint yours, dont touch it.

Messing with anyones wheels is beyond cruel and mean. Even if its abandoned or stolen. And its not free-for-all once its known about/reported.

    Just my opinion. :verdict_in:

If the cops already know about it an they are just leaving them there I say do it. The cops have t done anythin about it so they must not care. So do it take what you need/want an be on the look out for more

f_ck.. it's both tempting to take extra parts, then again... it's good to report those f_ckers!!!

like the prayer say's "....and lead us NOT, into TEMPTATION, but deliver us FROM EVIL, AMEN..."

I have mixed feelings on this as well.. worst case scenerio, you get cought pulling parts and then blamed for the theft of all the vehicles.

    heres what I would do.

    CONFIRM THEY ARE STOLEN!

THEN CONFIRM THAT THEY HAVE BEEN REPORTED STOLEN TO THE POLICE AS IN THERE IS A POLICE REPORT!

If they have no report of being stolen, maybe attempt to find the owners ? If you cant find anything, I would be very cautious on taking parts....

Check for vin numbers and tags post your finding on here...

how far back are they ? how hard would it be to drive a tow truck to them ? and how far from you are they ?

If they been out there a long time then the owner of those trucks already got paid out for them by there insurance if they had insurance.See im both ways here but the way u make it sound is that they been there awhile and getting rusty and torn up from the cold then the heat, so talk to a cop on the road somewhere or if u see one at the local coffee and donut shop. But im all for it. Let me know if u do.

this is exactly how i feel on the situation. i hate thieves and would never want it to be my truck.

but on the other hand i know for a fact that that purdddy unripped benchseat is soon to be a racoons nest.

and on top of all that the closest i could get my truck is like a half mile from te spot. its all gnarly ruts from there out. it would be a B!tch to haul my loot.

i got a grille emblem. thats it. and doubt ill go back for more.
    haha but we'll see
