Hey all, Just saying hi! I'm a current Toyota owner (2007 Yaris with a bunch of stuff done to it; occasional autocrosser, daily driver, ongoing project), and life-long Toyota truck fan (when I was seven years old, the Toyota truck in "Back to the Future" was the first vehicle I ever remember actually wanting!). I'm looking at finally buying a Toyota pickup—probably either a '76 or a '78 I've found locally—for hauling stuff around and for a project. From lurking on this site for the last day or so it looks that both trucks are mechanically similar if not identical. Regardless, either vehicle would get lowered and get some engine goodies at some point. Anyway, I also run a blog called Subcompact Culture at http://www.SubcompactCulture.com which is all about small vehicles. (and yes, a mid-to-late '70s pickup is pretty small). Just thought I'd stop in and introduce myself! - Andy
Sweet! We love new members, and the 78 and before are my favorites. I will check out that site sometime too. Be prepared to post photos, even if you don't have a truck yet
Well, here's my Yaris: I just called on both the '76 and '78 trucks for sale, and both are sold! Guess I'll be on the lookout.
Welcome to TM! Yaris looks cool. Better get on top of those old hiluxes if you hope on grabbing one, they seem to be going fast lately.
It's crazy. I called on two, both were gone. I did call on an '80 longbed. However, the guy doesn't have the title, but has applied for a lost one. I'm not 100% how that'd work, honestly. Plus, it's in Washington (not Oregon), so I don't know how that'd effect things, either. I was also looking at early Mazda B2000s (pre '85), but would rather have a Toyota.
Welcom to TM from your neighbor in Vancouver-ish Washington. There has been quite a few older Pickups on portland CL. keep your eyes open Look forward to seeing what ya get and i totally digg your Yaris
