So last fall i de-leafed my rear..... got it low but i didnt like running with one leaf. So about 5 months ago i started a new job in the big truck mechanics area. well the place i work has a spring shop..... yea you know were this is going. brought my truck in last week and had the stock leafs de-arched... we made them perfectly straight. Lowered it a bunch.. still can take weight in the box, and still rides nice! Pics to come!
I'd like a set for my 78 that are flat, but have an extra leaf in the pack. So 4 springs total instead of 3. That'd ride nice and stiff.
Hahahahah yea i know! I even got a new camera! Ill post them shortly. And I have a 3 leaf pack. It consists of the main, helper, and the over load.
ok so by the time i got my camera back from my gf it was dark... go figure. But i did get under shots of it. Ill take some of the whole truck in the morning.
With the air shocks, and that many springs I doubt his does much. Mine on the other hand, with 2 leafs and less space to the frame, will hit if I bounce around in the driver seat at a redlight. And I'm only 160 lbs!!
Oh so true. I forgot i saw those in the pic. stupid me. why dnt u get airshocks too? im still wondering if i wana get some just for sh!ts n giggles
Well, if I was to get new shocks, I thought about it. I haven't even replaced my shocks as it is in the back. I will check, but there is a good chance they are original. Nothing on this truck was ever replaced. Haha. And I plan to do a 4 link in the back, with coils for now. Maybe eventually swap the coils for bags.
well then get to it foo!! haha. ur yota bagged would look badass. havent seen many of that bodystyle bagged
Those air shocks are nice. I have a set of hijacker air shocks on my dropped rwd corolla wagon. I had installed an onboard aircompressor from a early 90's buick or caddy and it worked pretty well. Those compressors are a dime a dozen in the junkyards.
I originally put the air shocks on when i de leafed the rear. Figured i miht as well keep them even tho i dont really need them. As for the frame smacking the axle.. hasent happened yet. Again with all 3 leafs and 30psi in the air shocks it stays up pretty good... but still rides decent. Not to stiff. Im still debating if i want to flip the leafs over to get a little lower and do a BJ flip in the front.
To straighten them was free... lol again i my work has a spring shop in the building. All i had to do was take them out. Yea its all caged in...... no room in the driveway, so when its not getting drievn its parked there
truck is lookin great man! not many people have looked into this but a 4x4 leaf pack has the same effect when you remove the two center leafs. they have less arch since they are spring over desighn. so they keep them flatter in order to not lift the truck as high, and they add a couple more leafs for more progressive spring rate......
