we have really strict bumper laws here specially the rear bumper..

look like I'm gunna have to try and mold in a rear bumper as much as I really don't want too..

suggestions or pics of some molded rear bumpers may help if you have some..

depending if you can find this law, depending on the year truck, the law (federal) did not require some of these trucks to come equipped with a rear bumper from the factory as it was an option.

if you can find proof of this option and you get a ticket, you can fight it given it is granfathered into the law since regulations were passed after the truck was made and required to have a rear bumper.

otherwise its just part of the "cost" of being custom....... just pay the fine unless its a correctional violation....... then i would just have a spare bumper and drop down brackets for it so you can do a quick pass on a fix it ticket.

Thats one reason why I like it here. I took my bumper off the day I got it and have not been pulled over, asked about it or anything.

I agree with SD YOTA, check into the laws. If it came from the factory that way, they can't make you put it on. Its like factory tint, they make you take it off (even though its in the glass :D).

or one of those slider rear bumpers the hardcore 4wd yota guys run... that'd be so sick. Beefed Taco has something like that

Well, you could run an 89-95 rear bumper. They look better. Especially better than a tube bumper. I have been pulled over about 10-12 times in my 78, in 3 or 4 different states. And the only time they mentioned it was some rookie a while back. I told him they were optional, and he said he will give me a warning. And that he would double check his books. They don't like when you have a printout from the states site with the exact codes.

Cops actually mess with you over not having rear bumpers? I have built and driven minitrucks in CA, NV and now WI over a 25 year period and never had a rear bumper or been harassed about it.

Utah's the same way. I like the quick release idea for passing then yank it back off. If they ask, tell them its getting rechromed and it will be back on shortly.

For custom ideas, I've always liked the 4Runner wrap around bumpers. The Pathfinder or any bumper where the license plate is below the bumper I thought would look pretty cool too. (You can tell I've given thought to this in the past.)

i saw a 2" wrap around tube bumper on a 4x4 that i liked. it followed the bottom of the body exactly and only stuck out about a half inch if any. just a single tube too. i cant remember exactly, but i think the guy had a roll pan. i dont know if there are regulations on how the bumper is supposed to look, but if i was forced to run one, that would be it
