Did my oil change today and the filter was dry, no oil in it. The truck (93- 22RE) runs fine, just no oil in the filter. Is there anything I can check , maybe the oil bypass if stuck?

one of my previous cars if it sat there long enough it would drain the filter (designed that way).... pull the distributor wire and crank it a few turns see if anything comes out...

depending on your filter some do not have a drain back check valve so they cause less mess when changing the filter...... some do and those will drip oil out. me personally i like to have the oil in there so i get ones with check valves.

exactly, with the way it mounts sideways, it could have just run out overnight before you did it. or not had a runback valve so its not a mess to take off. the ph8a tall filter is a nice replacement though.

Same brand filter that I have been using for years and this is the first time that no oil was in it. Drove the truck within several hours of changing the oil. Maybe a bad filter?
