I tried to recharge my friends a/c system.
i noticed that the a/c clutch didnt engage.
i checked to see if there was power going to the a/c compressor
    and there was no power.
but the funny thing is that the a/c switch light turns on.
im guessing it might be the a/c amplifier
    what do you guys think??
    thanks in advance

im having the same problem. but try run power and ground to the ac compressor itself and see if it engages..i forget the tool that i used to do that but looks like a multimeter. i did that and my stuff turned on so i traced wires back to the cab n found it rubbing on some edges and the ground was bad and the power wire was kinda questionable and the connection behind the button was dirty to but idk...just my input good luck

I've had this happen before on other vehicles I've owned. Just because the light comes on doesn't necessarily mean the compressor is actually working. Check all your fuses, relays, and wiring - assuming the compressor itself checks out.

Put power to the wire going to the compresor with a jumper wire just to check if the clutch engages. If it engages, your comp should be ok. Could be a bad relay. Also, when your charging the ac, the clutch wont engage unless you have enough pressure in the system.

yea i know it wont engage unless it has enough pressure.
the gauge read 35 psi when i noticed that the compressor didnt engage was like ****
    something else is the problem
but ill checck to see if jumping the compressor helps.

sounds like the resistor or relay. If you have pressure in the line sound engauge when the button is on. You can change the ac button itself because im like 80% sure that the resistor is in the button itself.
