I can probably get a weber for 75 bucks from a friend. What necessarily makes the stocker bad?

I'm literally in the middle of this particular upgrade. Took the 32/36 DGEV that I had purchased not too long ago for the 20r in my 77', and purchased a few jets to swap in to tailor it more for the 18r.

My 72' came with a tired Made in Italy 32/34 and I had initially thought that linkage adapter would work for the 32/36 DGEV. Not so.

So back to the store I go tomorrow for the correct linkage adapter.

Everything else is pretty much done. Even started her up tonight and set the carby up with a nice lil' baseline to work with. It's just tough to really dial it in without being able to at least take her around the block.

Still.......I must admit, old cast iron sounded 100 times healthier and mean as f**k. Sure, they're nothing like a 2xr, but if your compression checks out, and you have other vehicles to turn to (just in case), nothings wrong with messing with an 18r and running it till it burns a valve or throws a rod. :)

After you get a weber slap an 8r on top of the 18rc block head for a hybrid.
