Okay, i just bought this truck and was told the passenger door didnt open. I figured it be an easy fix so do worry about it. I have an appointment to get a radio and some speakers installed and it just hit me that he may need the door to open. I took the door panel off and i cant figure it out. The interior handle seems like it works fine, like its connected to whatever it suppose to be connected to, cant see in there very well to tell for sure. The exterior door handle doesnt move at all, like if i lift up the handle it doesnt budge, any advise?
follow the rod with your hand, it should connect to the door lock somewhere, then grab the lock tab thing and pull it, it should pivot and engauge the piece of the lock that the handle rod connects to, it its not ( and thats usually why they wont open ) pull the door handle rod, and pull up on that pivot. I wish i had a picture for ya but we dont have one of those in the shop right now...
the exterior door handle is jammed, it doesnt move at all, i took the panel off and just cant figure it out. When i get a day off im gonna do take a door from a junkyard so i have a parts door and something to compare it to
As a installer, I would be extremely pissed at you if you brought me a truck with a door that didn't open... on that note, I would see if he wants to mess with it. Any installer worth a damn should be able to get that door open and tell whats broken in less then 5 minutes if you have the panel off.
if you can reach your hand in there with the panel off from the inside, feel for the latch, don't worry about the rod connecting to it...your gonna have to push down on the actual latch not the rod
I went and told him before hand that my door did not open, the stock speaker wires are right there anyways and they mount over the door panels so it should be fine
why don't you just take the other door panel off and compare them... it's a mirror image of the broken one...
