So I got this truck from my grandfather and he had an eq. installed for some reason and it made a real loud popping noise every time you turned the stereo off or on so I said hey, let's take that SH## out! Well the idiot that installed it at the shop cut the harness all the way back and now I got nothing. I was able to fix the bigger harness, and the stereo comes on, and works properly, but no sound comes out. Can someone post a diagram or a picture of what color wires go where so I can run all new wires and put the interior back in so the wife will stop her bitchin?
You're almost their If everything works but the speakers, Then you're just looking for the speaker wires. Factory colors for the speakers are grey w/ a strip of light purple and the other is grey w/ a strip of light green (L or R don't remember) I'm sure you'll figure it out. Good luck!
Probly a little late but here ya go... blue/yellow - constant grey - switched brown - ground green - dimmer left front + pink - purple right front + teal - blue left rear + black - yellow right rear + red - white
Well the upper picture is the harness that I fixed, I got that one working fine, the lower one however.... That's the one I am screwed on. I will try to get some better pics showing the colors today.
Well I think I am through with it, I think I might just pull all the stock wires and redo it all from scratch and just install an aftermarket stereo.
that secondary harness is just rear speakers. If your front speakers don't work make sure they are plugged in at the speaker and the speaker is good. If you can't salvage the plug you can buy a new one from metra for 10-15 bucks at a stereo shop. the part # from metra is 71-1761
its 100% correct. I have been a installer for a while now and know a toyota harness of the top of my head. If you had a eq, there is probably a amp. follow that wire that looks like a cut rca or speaker wire hanging inside your dash.
Ok, good. Isn't the factory amp right behind the head unit? Oh wait, some of the 4runner's had the amp on the speakers, didn't they? I wonder if some of the trucks are the same way since they use the same factory speakers.
