There may be a higher demand for juice once the truck is back on the road so is there any suggestions for an alternator upgrade?
You may have already seen this but I'd suggest a 1 wire alternator conversion for your 20R (sorry about the mess, I have a main seal I need to replace on that 20R): http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3816 Or you could order one of these brackets that really look great: http://www.yotatech.com/f37/22r-re-gm-single-wire-alternator-mount-139305/ One other thing I'd advise is picking an alternator that produces the amps you need but not an excessively huge one that is going to drain power from your 20R. There is to some degree a trade off of horsepower for amps, although as I'm investigating this right now I'm finding that it might not be all that much. http://www.carnut.com/ramblin/dyno.html Apparently on a Chevy 350, with a Summit 1 wire alternator at 4500 rpms and a 65 amp draw horsepower output was only reduced by 1.28 horsepower. However, on a 20R I wouldn't be surprised at all if the drain was more dramatic than on a 350. Plus with our lower output motors every horse you can squeeze out of these motors makes a difference IMO so it's worth considering before going with a HUGE alternator unless you really need the power. I would think something around a 100 amp output would be good for most average upgrades.
The GM alternator is a nice upgrade, but personally I run the 3 wire setup, no doubt the 1 wire is easy to hook up but has some drawbacks for a daily driver. http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/onewire-threewire.shtml
Yeah, the only real drawback that I can see from that site is the warning light issue. My warning light does not work correctly with the 1 wire alternator. As far as price, parts availability, charge sensing, I don't see any of these being a problem with a 1 wire setup. I have had no charge problems whatsoever and noticeably brighter lights since the upgrade. BTW, I'm not running a high amp alternator. Just a stock 1 wire alternator from NAPA. The charge light always being on is kinda annoying though, I gotta admit...

I don't know. You'd have to ask him. If not it'd be a great niche for someone to fill. I just saw on that thread that he lists them as being for 22R-RE, but as far as I know the 1 wire alternator upgrade will not work with the 22RE fuel injection system.
