Hi everyone my name is Jim...I'm interested in some modifications for my 87' pickup that I recently bought. I found this site by googling ''87 Toyota pickup mods'' and saw LowNLoud's cardomain profile, followed the link and bam here I am. I didn't want to troll around on such a great site/forum so I joined up, thanks for having me! A little about myself, I have been an Airforce firefighter for 9 years and am currently stationed at Tyndall AFB (Panama City, FL). I've been married to my wonderful wife, she is a veterinary technician...we have a daughter who is four. I moderate on two forums and am also a car club officer. I'd be happy to tell you more about our car club once I meet the staff here and get permission to mention our name. I just bought an 87' pickup bone stock two days ago and it's in decent condition. The previous owner couldn't afford the repair bills so he sold it to my buddy who owns a shop and I basicaly paid for parts and got her running again. The 22R motor has been freshly rebuilt since it had spun a rod bearing, new brakes all around, full service and tune up. I bought this truck as a daily driver and to keep miles and save money on my gas bill since my mustang gets around 12 mpg. Now I can keep her covered up and in show condition all the time...You an check out my mustang here, I've turned every nut and bolt on her http://www.usamustangs.com/forum/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=189 I'm a car enthusiast and enjoy all types of rides...I have about 15 years of experience working on cars. I'm excited about my new toyota pickup project and look forward to meeting and interacting with you all and get some advice and ideas for my truck. I will post some pictures of the truck in a couple hours (camera is charging after taking countless Christmas morning pictures). I plan to start with exhaust and rims/tires...then onto body work and paint...then who knows, she will have a full makeover in a year or so time. Again, thanks for having me onboard! -Jim
heheh...I know right, just snapped a couple with my cell phone since my camera is still charging. The only rust is slight surface rust, the body is straight with exception of one small dent in the roof, one just under the tailgate and one in the hood. My good friend owns AngelX Customs so we plan to block and sand real soon...I plan to paint it hot rod flat black, want to give it that 'murdered out' look with some flat blue accents. oh and yeah the tool box is coming off today, I already had to remove the hunting decals lol
I was thinking, a satin black with a blue flake within it. and you should murder it out! Welcome to the forums!
Thanks for the warm welcomes! I have to laugh at JDSnake, thanks man...I hope you're talkin about the stang and not the pickup though lol...but give the her about 6 months and she will have paint, exhaust and rims/tires
