I'm thinking your alt was goin bad already. Cause a system would not have killed it that fast, unless it is wired wrong, but that should only drain your battery. What amp & sub are you running?

most stock alt's can just barely power the vehicle with all the accessorys on.

so when you add a more powerful stereo and amp you prolly over loaded it. (lights flashing is a clue).

depending on what the "amp thing attached to light" was you could of been drawing too much for the lil alt to handle and it overheated and died.

get your alt tested, in the truck. then pull it out and have it tested. upgrading the wires to your batt and pos post on your alt will make a world of difference.

ps: the clearer and more comprehensible you make your post, the easier it is for us to help:waytogo:

Stock alternator, stock wiring, max output around 50 amp or thereabouts, not counting the normal draw of lights, heater, ect. then add a 1400 watt and 750 watt draw on top of that, which if you do the math, just those 2, 1400 and 750 equates to nearly 180 amps, my guess you worked the alternator to death.

That Pioneer amp is probly only pulling bout half the power (watts) it says. But yeah, if you didn't upgrade your batt & alt wiring, it worked to hard.

There is a couple things you can do. Show all ready said, upgrade your alt wiring. Also your grounds. Run the biggest power wire you can to your amp. Also run a cap. inline. Running a cap. should help you out w/ the lights fading. If that fails to help the problem, step up to a bigger alt. There was a write up somewhere around here.

Running bigger wires to your batt, alt, & amp is gonna do alot more then a cap will. A cap is just a "band-aid", if you will. The size of amp you have shouldn't need a cap.

I agree, that is why I suggested the wires 1st. And then the cap. As long as he is re-wiring things, he may as well just wire and mount a cap since he has the stuff apart anyways.

I don't know if his truck has a volt gauge but he may also want to look into that as well. Or a temporary gauge just to see if the amp is still putting a big enough draw on the electrical system. Turn everything on, and the system, if the needle is jumping around, you have a problem
