First, things that have already been done: torsions lossened, 3" blocks in the rear, removed overload spring (not sure if that helped) and I am on 20's all the way around.
I am looking to go another 3"-4" lower in the rear so my rear will sit much lower than my front. If I buy the 3" Beltech leaf spring pack (keep the 3"blocks) and c notch the frame only 2" will I have any problems with the gas tank, lines or run into any issues? Thanks for the info in advance. And do I even need to do the c notch to get the look i am going for. If I wont run into any issues I would rather just buy the 3" drop leafs and get 4" blocks without the c-notch.
I am not looking to bag it for a couple of months so this must do for the time being.

I take it you're not hauling anything in that truck.

Let me know when you swap leaf springs. I'd like to help out with that.

how big are your rims and tires? If your running a large size rim and tire, you can get lower by going to a smaller size. Even if you notch the frame, the center of the rear end will start to hit the bed.

I dont plan on hauling anything.... just a play truck. I would love some help swapping those out cause i was just going to take it to a shop and have it done there. dont have the room to do it at the house.

Im running 20x9's all the way around. I just want to tuck that back rim as far as i can. and I realize if i had smaller rims it would be lower. I have a set of 15's on low profile tires sitting in my garage. when I put those on the truck looks slammed just with 3" blocks and torsions cranked down. but dont want 15's

    removing overload doesnt lower it.

i say remove middle and add overload.

    blocks ride fine

dont forget to trim bumpstops in the rear to compensate for loss of suspension travel / clearance

Hey guys. newbie but oldie. was going to start a new thread about a question i have, but this seems like a good thread to add too. Been lowriden for bout 25 yrs, went modern for the last few years, now back to older and much better imo. too the question. Bought a 90 hilux x-cab last week, 4" angled blocks in back, kept all leafs, rides fine and is quite low for now. Prob is with the front. My first truck was an 89 reg cab. I cranked the torsions down a lot....before they even made spindles, and put some lowered shocks toxics on it and drove it for years. no probs. ordered some toxics from stylintrucks for the 90, they sent me the same length shocks as my stockers, which are bottomed out, so the toxics bottomed out too. Called stylin, guy made me measure the distance under compression. Did, told him bout 9". Sorry, that is the smallest shock we make, he said. Stockers and toxics bottomed out at 9". I could have swore the shocks i had before were tiny? Am i wrong and just cant remember that far back? I know not to crank the torsions a lot, and i still have a couple inches of bolt sticking up still, and the key part is not even hanging down below the frame. Bumpstops are out, so i am not on them. Pretty much just need a part# from one of you guys for what i need. Thanks and will be talkin with ya later, Rob:waytogo:

I assume you removed the front inner fenders! As I run 225x18x40 tires & before that was done would hit @ full lock to the point where pulled a tie rod end out of the rod,as wanted to travel further!!
C-notching would be a must as the axle will hit the frame hard!!

my opinion...20s are nice but way too big if your trying to get slammed with a static drop. 17s or 18s would help with a few inches.

Slamdyota, are you talking about the front or rear shocks?

KK082409, I would not spend any money on the belltech drop leaves until you first do the notch. I have the drop leaves installed on mine, but the problem is not the stock springs. It is most likely the axle housing topping out on the bumpstop or the frame rail. I installed an 8" notch and the fuel tank is still in the stock location. 8" should be enough to lay out with 18's.

If you do the drop springs and the blocks, you probably need more than the two inches of notch. Adding the blocks to the drop leaves could introduce more issues too because the aftermarket springs are more prone to axle wrap.

LitNeon and Truck Action ..... thanks for the info. I will go with the 8" c notch and not even mess with the springs. Might as well bag it. Didnt think it would be doing it this soon but might as well.

    Truck Action:
I have not yet removed the inner fenders yet or my bump stops in the front. I have been fine so far but my torsions are not cranked all the way down either. Maybe thats why I don't have a problem yet.

I finally got a hold of Brian Claunch (streetacos) from here and i'm just going to take my truck to him when he has some time.
