That's right folks. My young immature ass bought a house. Work on the truck was on hold for while. Seems like it will be on hold indefinitely.

Anyone know how to install "U Coat It"? I'm definitely doing the garage floor.

:clapping:nice buy, good choice as far as the coating, clean the floor really well follow the directions for the prep work. It can get slippery without that sand they sprinkle on the floor before the paint dries ( i don't know the technical name for that sand)and don't drive on it for a few days depending on weather for it to dry. the coating will last and it will look good. The added benefit is it improves the value of the house

Can't wait to etch my garage. Not totally sure what that means but I know I need to do it.

I think it's just sanding the concrete down.

go to a hardware store and ask for etching solution. It comes usually in a plastic gallon. Its to clean the concrete. Pour it on, let it work and wash off with water. I think a ingredient is muratic acid just info

Holy ****! Owning a house is expensive. I'm going to put in $15,000 just to get everything together.

    New Carpet
    New Laminate
    New Tile in all bathrooms
    New Tile in the kitchen
    New Marble countertops
    All new Stainless steel appliances
New Cali king bed frame and bed
New Paint for the whole house. different color per room
    "U Coat It" garage
New Sofa set for family room
Custom wall mount tv set up for family room
    new blinds

    Future projects:
    Ladscaping in back yard
    New washer dryers
    New dining table
    new office desk
    new guest beds

I haven't even considered all the simple/little stuff I'll need.

kimsan808: Do I still need to etch the concrete if I use this chemical? How do I dispose of the acid? I can't just hose that bitch down the driveway, or can I?:looney:

I think I'll need to join a home improvement forum now.

But you got plenty of time. My house has been slowly getting done for the last 2 years.

    Last year was new flooring
now I am onto all new doors and frames, got them up and installed. After I pay off the Home Depot C.C. I got to get the trim and handles and baseboards and then paint the inside.

It will get done slowly. Like I said I am not going anywhere anytime soon. I think I got 18 years left on the mortage

yep you just wash it off. the chemical is to clean/rough cement. its also called etching acid. ever use aircraft paint acid to strip paint? It's the same thing after applying rinse off with water. The water makes it inert. Same principal as preping metal to paint. If the floor isn't clean from oil/dirt the paint you use to coat the floor wont stick. Usually the garage painting kits whichever one you buy will also make a cleaner for the floor, basically concrete etching acid. Home depot sells one also....at least here in Hawaii so i would think its the same where you live
