keh i just bought a nice almost brande new set of headers for my 86 22r...............it is ceramic coated and came with gaskets and this long pipe for hook up from the outlet on the headers and bolt up to the exhaust......................its tri y and the guy is telling me i goin hafto get bended pipe to go over my torsions and then weld......wondering if anybody know what thats all about
Yup, that's what alot of people have to deal when buying doug's. Tha't's why I always stick with LC headers!
Bend the pipe bro or use flex pipe for temporary, you will not be dissappointed with the Dougs! The best for the 20/22R's hands down... LC is overrated/overpriced!
There really isn't a price difference between the headers and LC now offers doug thorleys and I think they will price match any competitors price on dougs. And again no mods needed with the Lc headers! It's pretty much preference really that's all. Dougs tri y design Lc 4 to 1 design
hahaha no but seriously spec wise, which header is better cuz i was gonna get some headers when i redid my exhaust system
Again preference. If you need some advice give Lc a call they'll explain the differences between the two headers.
Quick ?'n, im gettibng some hedman headers for my 22R, but it dosent have the inlet for all the lil tubed going into the stock headers, Im guessing thats all smog emissions crap. would i be able to put these headers on my truck? and what would i do with all the rest of those lil pipes?
doug thorely makes more then 1 type of header for the 2xr, and LC has quite a few. imho its DT-502y or nuthin. the tri-y gives the broadest improvement over the whole rev range by making the runners the same length. a 4-1 header is good for high revs, you could actually tune the header for a fairly narrow rev band, and most are. cheapest place to buy new ones is www.autoanything.com or ebay some times, but beware of rip offs. ps headmans are crap, ive had 3... they all had cracks in the center of the collector, and the welds wernt to hot on the flange.
thanks for the heads up.. my friend has a badass header he took off his truck. but it was off an automatic, will that fit mine if mines a 4-speed.
You get what you pay for,LC's are 304 stainless, ceramic coated & made for Toyota's by people who build Toyota race engines & dyno tested! Need I say more!
i think the reason why is because they only made one design for the 22r and 20r which means that it was made for the 4wd and the 2wd. thats the reason why you need to have a pipe to go over....its nothing big but thats what i think thats the reason why lc engineering makes headers for celicas, toyota pick ups 2wd and 4wd. even though they all have the same motor but they got different clearance in the engine bay and down under the vehicle... i dunno if that makes sense but yea thats my opinion... oh yea dough thorley is a good brand for headers....tri y is able to produce lots of power again my thoughts
What are the main differences when u block of the EGR pipe from the exhaust? And are there certain downfalls if we do block th EGR?
the egr is suppose to be for emissions also something about gas that was unburnt than recycles... i dunno im not to sure... i know it was something like that though
egr is basically there to dampen nox emissions. it puts an inert gas (aka exhaust gasses) into the intake while cruising to lessen smog, which is comprised of nox, hc, and sunlight. removing egr will not net you any gain, removing it will cause your truck to likely fail smog inspections, and if you ever get pulled over and your hood popped, the officer might notice that as well and ticket you for it.
