This 1985 Toyota extra-cab belongs to my friend & fellow club member Allen & is being painted/put back together by Jason Perdue of Free Style Kustomz of Florence, SC. Its got a traditional body drop-(to the rockers), full air suspension, custom rear clip & all sheet metal interior. So...on to the pics & just to let you know, the rims are being changed to something more old school to go with the new paint! <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4212.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4207.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4229.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4235.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4234.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4246.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4237.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4224.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4210.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4211.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4247.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4238.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4245.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4216.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4241.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4253.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4221.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4244.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4243.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4209.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4248.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4250.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4219.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4257.jpg"> <img src="http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e197/smctoy/Allen/IMG_4256.jpg">
Fabrication, Time, and money. The three main things everybody needs when you have a hobby. Unfortunately, I only succeed in the first one haha. Nice project man
The painter/fabricator of this truck Jason is only 24!! Whats crazy is that he has been doing crazy stuff like this since he was little. When he puts is mind & effort into something u better watch out lol.
This truck was orginally built over 8 years ago & has been sitting in Allen's shop. The reason is sat for so long is because he was in school for Radiology, then he got married & not too long after that his son was born. So basically no time for it. Well he finally got the bug to work on it & he took it to Jason. To start Jason painted in all white & was going to lay down some sic graphics, but after Allen saw a bike in a chopper magazine with this rust style paint he wanted to do that. Jason being the mad painter he is came up with a way to make paint look like rust & trust me it does. It looks so real that when you walk up to it you actually think the truck is rusting away. Believe it or not too, but this is Jason's first attempt at doing this style paint job!! When its done at Jason's Allen is going to install the custom interior, then the 22R engine that was built by LC Engineering & hopefully show it.
i know theyre nothing alike, but it reminded me of this gem http://www.minitruckinweb.com/features/mazda/0601mt_custom_1990_mazda_b2200/photo_04.html
I thought it was actually rust too but thought it looked odd because of where the rust was. Very cool job!!! I like the Mazda ^^^^^ too!
any updates on this? i think its amazing. i saved the photos. i may experiment with the technique some myself. its not far looking of a tactic from the way ive done a few guitar projects to look like old beat relics or blood splattered. just different color tones.
Wow, I have always loved the rusty look, kind of like rat rod ish... but the real thing tends to eat away metal so thats no good LOL
