I thought I'd make a thread just, well, because. Feedback mostly, as I won't be doing much, but some cool tweaks I guess. The day I got it, like 7/23/09? When I put on some 01 Montero Wheels, 8/4/09 After a full tune-up (NGK plugs and wires, new cap and rotor, a new fuel filter) and a MSD Blaster SS coil, 8/20/09 Factory Toyota fuel filter, after 170k miles. This is what came out of it... It runs soooo much better now! PS: Sorry for the cell phone pictures, digital cameras are expensive hah
The dirt, that's the beauty of having a 4x4, no one will give you crap for that. Nice that you have vented windows all around, wish mine did, I want to kill myself in the summer driving it, my AC gave out a long time ago. I'm happy mine's fairly straight, just not the bumper bracket mounts.
I have been looking for a straight 4X4 since I got my 2wd. I have found tons of 4X4's but none that are straight. I want to find a 4X4 to drive while my 2wd is under the knife.
so this weekend i put in my stereo, and finally fixed ish the hvac control panel. all i need now is the hvac control knobs, err, a new control head as mine doesnt have a hot/cold control hahah, and like a 8" bazooka tube hah. id post pictures but eh. hah also, i bought these in fear of being pulled over for my smashed one. but they wont stay clear, oh no. i have a plan. lol
9/14/09 New corner lights, and I washed it sorta, for the first time. AM-PM drive thru car wash. Learned the truck leaks hahah. Three pictars for you.
Well, actually, yeah. You could put them underneath the truck (on their own toggle switches), one aiming out the back and one for under the truck. That way when you are wheeling at night you can see whats behind you better than the crappy stock reverse lights and the one underneath will be handy when you want to make sure you aren't going to get hung up on anything (under-carraige lighting also looks damn cool I must say). Night wheeling is fun! That's what I would do with them on my 4x4 anyway... Might not fit with your plans for the truck.
If I had made brackets, I would have installed mine in those holes too. I had to remove mine because they get in the way working on the 88. Truck looks great man, the clear corners really stand out! Are you planning on puting in clear bumper lenses later?
shadetree, thank you. i never really thought of that. however full on wheeling isn't really in my budget right now, however some trails to incur just enough damage are indeed on my 'to do' list. nam, my aftermarket ghetto ac window on the passengerside leaks :< and sandshark, thank you! i dont think i'll be doing the bumper lights though, as the ones that are on there are fine, disposable income is hard to come by, and with my previous vehicle history, i want as little cop attention as possible. i was reluctant to even put on the license plate frames lol
I understand what you mean about disposable income... us 4x4 guys At least you've got those vented windows... I hate my flat glass. One thing I'd recomend before off-roading is removing the valance beneath the bumper... it's one of the first things to get damaged off-roading. I learned that the hard way when my friends w/ 4x4 Yota's (and one misfit Ford) still lived here...
