I have a complete engine sitting in the garage. I have been looking for the right 84-88 Xtracab to put it into. Just have not found one in acceptable shape.

even the 1UZ in stock form gets better mileage than the 22RE, especially when on the highway. plus the 1UZ-FE is lighter

    all aluminum

LS400 and the SC400. 2 versions of the 1UZ, VVTi and non VVTi. The non is cheaper and easier to find and kind of easier to mod. The UZ engine are awesome. Go to Lextreme and read all about it. I'm still learning actually.

The price seems good... the ebay listings they have are scattered with conflicting info so I would be cautious about purchasing from that company.

WTF I'm pretty sure it doesnt get better gas mileage than a 4cyl..especially the 22re..I average 28-31 mpg city and highway combined..and its not lighter..22re weights about 325 1uz around 390

I have done a number of 1U conversions to date into various platforms. The 1U with a proper tune is capable of matching the 22RE in equal platforms based on a city highway average. The 1U with all the accesories as a complete engine will weigh in about 460lbs.

if factoring in that the larger motor will not have to work as hard to get the vehicle to speed and keeping your foot out of it, it does seem like it very well could make sence. ive heard of guys doing 5M/7M swaps into these trucks and getting better mileage. my 20R went way up when i put a full exhaust and new intake/carb. i didnt have to put my foot all the way to the floor to get anywhere.

No UZ engine ever came with a stick in the US. You can buy adapters. Australia got the sticks vehicles:(
