Yesterday I smoged my truck and failed, the only thing I failed was the new evap system, they pressurize your gas tank and pinch off the charcol canister, apparently I have a leak and it wont pressurize, the only thing I can think oftank is because the tubing is solid from the engine compartment, the only thing I can think of is the evap tube from the solid tube to the tank, gas filler tube, relief tube, and the gaskets on the pickup and sender thats all I can think of besides a hole in the tank. Can anybody think of anything else before I rip the tank out?

Probably just a cracked rubber line somewhere. Almost positive it wouldn't be the tank....unless someone changed the pump or something and it didn't seal right. Smog does blow monkey nuts, but my guy loves the Yota's and says they always pass...or I guess almost always.:doah:

im not sure whats so hard about passing smog.......

i just tape a few green peices of paper on the air cleaner and my truck magically passes regardless of what condition its in

just check your lines....... these things were never meant to be pressurized in the manner they are doing and its likely to cause issues if the system leaks a tiny bit. just another method to fail you and try to get your old truck off the road. >(

did they pinch off the vent from the carb too?

i bet its the carb thats letting air out, not the fuel lines. they need to plug not pinch the lines right as the come up from the firewall. the carb is vented through the barrells, so that would be a pretty decent leak right there.

yeah and I forgot that there isn't a pump in the tank, so that pretty much eliminates that...I'm sticking with a cracked hose somewhere.

Check the VSV solenoid valve that allows / controls the gas fumes from the evap. canister(s) to go into the engine, it might not be shuting off completely.

What they do is hook a machine to the gas tank, they then pinch the vent that leads from the tank to the charcoal canister, if there is any pressure loss you fail. I asked the guy what the hell and he said, and i quote "if it was last year you would've passed". I get nailed with a test only every year. I'm getting ready to put propane on the bitch and and tell the air resources board to eat my butt. Hey then I can park in the clean air parking spots and when the hybrid homos make a stink I can make them fell stupid when I tell then they pollute more than me, just day dreamin.

The smog thing is not such a big deal, just build your engine the way it should be! Use carb numbered after market items ,& plan things out!

Yeah, but he will not risk his business & jail time with a $10,000 fine doing something illegal!
I have no problems passing smog,my LC engine is legal, there's a carb number for the headers,& I draw air from outside the engine bay!
The charcoail canister is there, just moved to the rear infront of the rear tire!
