wife reveresed the car (75 hilux) out of driveway now it wont drive forward only in reverse. Car feels like a brake is locked as there is tension and wont move forward when in gear. Could it be an axle jammed also? I recently had 3" blocks put in the rear to lower the car could this have been an issue?
    thanks

The issue shouldn't be with the lowering blocks, but it could be an issue with the brakes or bearings. Use a jack to lift both rear tires off the ground. Put the transmission in neutral and disengage the parking break. Try to turn the rear tires by hand and see if one or both will rotate.

Goes to show your better of doing things yourself.

that is why i always do my auto work myself lol. however i noticed i had to REALLY hunt to find front brakes for my 72 hilux because all of the auto parts stores in my town discontinued the 73 hilux front brakes (which my truck just happens to use). sometimes there are things like that you just dont want to deal with :D

not trying to defend the mechanics that worked on your truck....but we only use primo parts in out shop and ive had a set of shoes shear before. IDK why it happend, but we replaced them for the customer at no charge and there hasnt been a problem since. I think we just got a set made on a friday at 4:30... try taking it back and seeing if they will replace em for free...and make sure they pay the tow bill to get it there :)

i know alot of the shops where i live will replace it free of charge if that happens, but i still would rather do the work myself :D

that's the whole point of owning an older car. you can work on it yourself. i know since i was 15 building my old 63 chevy, the only thing i have ever sent my vehicle to a shop for was when i drowned my 2002 wrangler with a/t and the tranny needed rebuilt. besides that, every vehicle i have owned has been worked on by me myself, and i will call my dad or take it to his house so he can diagnose it, but i gotta do the work. lol. it's a love/hate thing, but workin on your own ride feels good.

    Ditto.

As long as you maintain her properly and in a timely manner, she'll always be hardy and downright reliable. Particularly the 2x'r.

im a mechanic.. i work on peoples cars all day long. when i get home the last thing i want to do is work on mine. I figure ill make everything perfect once, then hopefully not have to mess with it for a long time...

the worst is when you tell people you meet someone and you tell em you are a mechanic, they always start talking about whats wrong with their car/truck and start asking what I can do to help them fix it..

so...do the op of this thread ever get his breaks taken care of or his truck still hanging halfway out into the street?
