that T is supposed to be there, its a pressure relief valve for the stock pump (stock pump = crap).

    as for the wires...

the PO had something go wrong, so i say plug it in then remove any wires the PO added. see what happens.

if it were me id replace the pump with a metal pickup tube +screen (you can get one out of a mechanical pump truck) then run a aftermarket cheapie electric pump as close to the tank as possible. then concentrate on getting the gauge to work.

wheres the pic of the caps n beauty rings:p

So today I was working on the truck and ran into some major difficulties, the Previous owner did some crazy wiring with this truck. there are butt connectors every where and he cut of the harness for some damn reason. It is really frustrating because i cant test my pump and stuff, I took some pics of the progress but my camera cord is upstairs and im kinda tired. I would like to get a new harness for the pick up but don;t know where to get one.....

Unfortunately there are no trucks in my local yard..... sucks. I will have to call around.

Well i got the tank back from the shop, i am pretty happy with it it cost 130$ total, dipped, patched, and coated with a quick spray. Looks good inside to. They dipped my sending unit as well. But not i am having wiring issues. There was some major cutting of wires and stuff and can't seem to figure out why they did it. :looney:

any who i will have to sort it out with the wire diagram and try and find a new harness somewhere.

gah! its all ready to go except for wiring!!!

good luck with all your wiring. if you get a wiring diagram can you post it up? i looked in my books and none of the diagrams show an underhood specific one, mostly just ones for the lighting and interior. i have a few quirks under the hood of mine too.

and do you happen to have a stock style cover for the celica seats? i have the same ones in my 78 and the driver side is kinda wearing out and torn up.

I will throw up the one in my Chilton's but it may be the same one you have, let me know.

Also, what color of seat cover would you like? I had some brown ones and i have some brown ones the P/O has painted black, I might still have the brown ones but i may have thrown them out. I will check today.

mine are black. I'm just tired of it being torn. Ill probably deal with it but if you have a cover that would be cool. Thanks.

So I pulled the old mare out in the sun to work on it a bit, I threw on some hub caps and trims rings courtesy of ShoNuff (Thanks bro!) and thought i would take some pics. I picked up some new fuel line rubber to replace all of the old stuff. Fuel pump has been bench tested and seems to be working great. One piece of information that i found out is that the wiring harness isn;t really that bad for some resone the previous owner only cut the wires to the sending unit/pump. I spliced in some wire with some wire nuts temporarily. I hope to have her running by Saturday!

sweet! its lookin good. really straight truck. i have a few parts kickin around that are possibly useful to you. i have a set of tinted tail light lenses (i worked in a body shop, freebie..lol), misc little dash parts, some chrome trim that goes along the top of the door, and snaps in with the felt window seal, ect. if you ditch that antenna mount, i might be interested in it. can you put a good picture of it up? :p

Sorry for the delay guys, like i said I am trying to get internet at my new place.

    new left old right

After droping a few gas tanks and having no luck finding a bypass valve, i stumbled across a 78 dropped the tank and found a sending unit and pump set up that looked brand new. so later that day, I was able to install the new pump and and got it running. There came a ton of smoke!! white smoke.... But after an oil change, it started up and ran nice and clean.

I flushed the brake system and took it to a meet at the local sonic that nvrenufedge invited me to:waytogo: IT alot of fun but it was pretty scary though because the auto trans was sliping and droping gears like crazy. I was afraid that the trans was shot. You know these toyota trannys suck with out fluid. :brickknock: I checked the fluid level and it was bone dry, which was odd because when i first got it it showed some fliud on the dip stick. After 2 1/2 bottles of ATF type F she was running and shifting like butter!

I have been driving it every day for a week now, it is a ton of fun to drive.
so i have then turned to some cosmetics things

in this pic, so can see the bumper was pushed in and curved down

I did get it straightened but forgot to take a pic of it, it turned out great.

Here is a little DIY for all you hilux and old toyota people. This is a good way to freshen up a interior.

You can pick up one of these silver paint pens at Micheals or a Hobby shop.

sweet. that looks better. i would have done that...but my center is now all cut up for more gauges and switches. haha. i did use a red and orange sharpie in the raised dashes/numbers of my celica gauges im swapping to. it freshened up the red and orange on the tach. i didnt do the whites though.
