I have an 89 2 whl dr. I want to build a hot little low truck... Where do I start....besides with my smokin oil burnin motor???
Depends on how low you want to go & if your planning to bag it anytime in the near future. If your going for a static drop then you can go with spindles or drop/lower control arms & keep it simple in the rear & install lowering blocks. I just happen to have a set of 3-inch drop/lower control arms that im wanting to sell lol!
super cheap .. ball joint flip cranked torsions and blocks / leaves removed in back + shocks and you should be able to take at least 3/5 off the trucks height. sent pm on lca's
no bags anytime soon...I gotta start slow...Also I am a chick who doesn't mind working on cars, but knows very little...So everything is gonna be done in an over priced shop.
You don't have to know a lot. You just ask questions on here and then do it yourself. If you get stuck then you ask more questions. There are more than enough people on here that can help you.
true and this is no situation to be skipping on....so, its in the shop rite now getting the rear axle and all four shocks replaced....my motor smokes more than cheech and chong....where do you suggest I start??
It sounds like some gaskets need to be replaced on the motor. I suggest you take care of the smokin problem first. It doesn't matter how low your truck is if it is shooting out all kinds of smoke you will never look cool. Lol.
need to quit smoking yeah....I agree....It does not knock, but it smokes alot..So how do I go about rebuiling/replacing the motor without paying outrageous shop prices, I dont have anyone to physically help me with this so..........Do I have it rebuilt, or try to find a used strong motor to replace??
I say it depends if you are wanting the same type of motor or if you are wanting something crazy. It also depends on if your motor is worth rebuilding
no need for speed As far as creating my low toy...speed is not any concern...I just want reliable, strong and dependable...This truck is not gonna go over 80 mph...Its gonna look hot, and cruise slowly down the road with mass wattage... I think??? And no I do not believe my motor is worth building...So how do I find one?
what color smoke? different colors tell you different things...... is it burning oil? water? (does it go through alot of oil? or maybe the oil looks milkshaky....) diagnosing the problem is fairly simple by methods of elimination. start checking your fluids to see what it might be burning.....
plenty of long blocks on ebay. just watch out for core and shipping idiocy. or there are a number of people here with engine swaps too.
a quart a day does a toy good seriously about 4-5 quarts a week.. I drive only around town...not much gas=10 bucks a week oil=25 bucks a week....
course I upped my engine to 20-50 still taking 2 quarts a week on mine.. sounds like a full rebuild time for you.
shop wants 4400.00$ to do it... crazy huh? I do not have the time or patience to rebuild a motor myself...this is a truck i drive daily...
That sounds like a crap load. You could buy a rebuilt one on eBay and have it delivered for way less than half that.
I recommend using drop spindles for the front, you'll maintain most of the factory ride. I've never used LCA's so I'm not sure what that'll do to the ride. smctoy can tell you though.
