thoes anyone know if a truck on bags qualify! i did research an i can't find if modified suspension qualify
I don't think they care one way or the other. From what I hear they are going to smash all the trade inns. They are trying to get gas guzzlers off the road.
Once you trade the vehicle in the vin # is wiped out & the vehicle is crushed. They even had a list of stuff that all the dealers have to do to the vehicle so it cant be made drivable again! There is a thread about this on steetsourcemag.com. Ill see if I can find it & post it on here.
I saw it on the news. They drain the motors and put something in it to seize it. Then they crush it. I know they pull some parts, but very basic stuff(tail lights, etc) nothing big like doors or the like. After that it gets crushed. The junk yard place they were at were kinda hinting that its not worth it because they cant sell the engines and thats were most of the money comes from. Watching it though, some nice cars/trucks/SUVs were getting smashed, all of which still had a lot of parts im sure they could have sold.
im not sure if this whole action pisses me off or not. there are alot of people out there that have cars/trucks that need parts and this is just going to flood the market with more plastic cars which suck, so that brings jobs to fix them. but it also takes away alot of stuff thats still usable and takes away from other people having the resources to fix their stuff. i guess if its not smashing parts i need i dont care. just makes all the nice ones we have more uncommon because there are less. lol.
engine and drivetrain cannot be saved.. dealers can do what they please with the rest of the car( but ussually just crush whole thing)... liquid glass is porn into the engine and then it usually dies about a minute after it is run with that crap in it... I shed a tear for every possible yota out there that could have become someone elses dream lowrider or slammer... really sucks to know parts will become even more scarce... saw 7 yotas the other day at the junk yard and couldnt touch have any because the government prohibits the use of them... 7 yotas is more than I have ever seen in this place usually gets about 1 every 3-4 months and are stripped pretty fast... selling them could bring alot of money into the economy, it would be a win win... just my 2 cents... well more like dollar
yeah. its a bummer. i remember when they did a huge tacoma recall and nobody could buy parts from these huge taco lots.
My truck has real steal bumpers. They can trade in their "clunkers" if they want, just don't get too close to me in a NEW clunker with those plastic bumpers. I will own you. I don't think more debt is what this country needs. Fawk the consumer based economy. My truck til the wheels fall off, then off to the junkyard to look for another set.
My thing is, if your car was not rated for any less than 17 city miles per gallon you shouldn't be allowed in this. They are selling cars with 17 city now, why crush the old ones. Until everything gets 30+ in the CITY, this is a worthless program that hardly anyone applies for.
Right now at work we have three 4runners that are supposed to be clunkers, they are in great shape, We have two 93s and one 90, I asked the sales manger if i could swap front ends to my truck, i even offered money for them and he said no
who wants to trade their "clunker" for my yota.. my truck doesnt qualify for a clunker or else id be all over this. lol.
