yea man.......... i would hate to admit it but thats what it sounds like. 20R stamp on the block indicates 20R motor...... :(

would hate to think this guy jipped ya........ he seems like a stand up guy who seemingly "knows his stuff"

at worst even if it IS a 20R motor, its at the least better than what you had before i would think....

All I know is that the motor specs are to 22R. I already talked to him about it and I know hes a man of his word. Maybe it is just bored out or something, but idk

Good luck man, wish you the best. Specs are to 22R? for what its worth, the specs depending on what your builder is reffering to are the same on both engines, they both use the same crankshaft, same connecting rods, same camshaft, same clearances for internals, ect. ect. the only difference is the bore size, the 20R stock is 88.5mm the 22R stock is 92mm, the 20R can only be punched out to 90mm safely which is .060 over, maybe further but you might hit water. So in all practicality you just have a small bore 22R hybrid :) if the blocks been bored or would that be a big bore 20R :D

and it is possible to do a reverse hybrid, a 20r block with a 22r compression.

i actually have one, not much benifit cept slightly lower compression, but i think it does "rev happier" then either a 20r or 22r.

i wish my pacesetter header still looked that good. lol. and what carb is that? the choke is on the opposite side and the front fuel fitting is different. bummer about the motor if it is a 20R block, but maybe it has a higher compression or has been bored over. if nothing else, its a fresh motor.

Its a TRD header and you shouldve seen it when I first got it wasnt so purdy.
The carb is a webber fairly new and kinda hard to come by from what Ive been told. The motor is a 20R witch doesnt bug me cause its been bored out to a 22R.

Glad to hear your engine is running and your happy with it, thats all that counts. For what its worth and not trying to downgrade, just offering some insight. The oil pump seal wouldn't blow from compression, either the oil pressure is extreme, bypass valve stuck, or the seal wasn't installed correctly, and to get a 20R punched to a 22R would be a real feat, it would need bored .1380 over size which is nearly 140 thousands, the pistons would be running in water :D
But HEY!!! nothing wrong with a 20R, I think their a great engine, every bit as good as a 22R in my opinion, so drive it and enjoy it :waytogo:
