i am currently rebuilding my 22re, and since i already have it off, i would possible like to turbo it, and get some cams, but i have a question about the turbo. would i be able to just put on the turbo and all the parts needed, or would i have to get the 22rte block? i am new to turboing stuff, and i wont be doing the work by myself. i will be having my dad (mechanic for 15 years) help me. i tried searching, and didnt see anything. thanks in advance. oh and ill get pics up of the rebuild when done.:)

Can't help you with your motor questions, but you can start a build thread in the proper year section. That way you can show your progress on the truck and motor.

    btw, welcome to TM!

its all good. im sure someone on here will help. ive been looking around on here for a while, but that was my first post. and i plan on doing a buildup thread soon. btw its a 1995 2wd. i cant decide if i want to lower it a bit, or lift it a bit. most of the people on here will brobably say lower though lol.

only downfall to slapping a turbo on a 22RE is the factory ECU

What's the issue with the ECU? Finding one?

ya you'll need the 22ret ecu.

the big difference for the 22ret is the oil feed/drain on the exhaust side of the motor. but its not necessary, you can tap for oil under pressure from the intake side and dump into the pan where ever you want.

really good site for info on the 22ret http://22returbo.net/

I see one on ebay for the 3.0 but that's it. I never knew they turboed the 22r from the factory until I was researching my truck.

thanks guys. ive decided not to turbo it, but instead i think im going to cam it, so i have a bit more power to run bigger tires. im going to lift it too.
