Hey guys, I have been looking around the web in search of a good forum for Toyota pickups/hilux and I think I have found where I need to be. Let me tell you a bit about my self. I have been in to the old Toyota stuff for years and love them to death! Like most toyota guys, I have more than I can handle. I currently have:
    91 Corolla 4 door ( Daily Driver)
    86 GTS Hatch
    85 GTS Hatch
    77 Celica
    73 Celica
    and now, the 77 Pickup
I have done paint and bodywork for two of my cars and have worked at a few auto upholstery shops

I have been wanting to get a Hilux Style for a long time but wanted disc breaks up front and a 20r so I went with this 77. It is bone stock right now The only thing that is not stock is some sort of after market A/c Unit. I picked it up for cheap from a really nice guy that bought it for his teen age son but couldn't get it running right. When i bought it, hey said he could not turn the engine over manually. I was thinking that worst case, the engine was toast.

My Goals of this truck are pretty simple. I want to lower it a bit, 2-3 inches, redo the interior, and clean it up a bit, but keep the stock paint. Swap to a 5speed and a 32/36 weber carb

*****I Am looking for a set of clean stock hub caps!!*******

    Here are some pics

Thanks ShoNuff, I went to the redline site and they only had low Res but Webercarsdirect has some really good ones...now to see if they sell those individual parts.......

Ok guys this next up date is a little bit old but an update none the less. When I started working on it, first thing was first, I needed to make sure the engine would turn over, if I could not get it turned, I would have to source a new engine. So the first thing I did was pull out my big breaker bar, just in case the previous owner was just to weak. No luck. Next I pulled the belts and plugs, This was a nice little surprise! Brand new NGK plugs, not a single fire on them. :) Still, it would not turn over, my final guess of what to do is pull the starter, the previous owner had started doing this, but pulled the motor off, and the the gear reducer. I pulled the the gear reducer. Boom, Butter!. The engine turned nice and smooth. After an inspection of the reducer, I found the gears were crushed! This would explain the "Mooing" noise when we first picked it up and hooked a battery to it.

Next My wife and I started cleaning the interior. What a mess! not really sloppy just dusty.

dash is in pretty good shape and all the plastic is in pretty good shape.
my wife picking up change, We came out with about $7.43, man this thing is paying for its self!
I then removed the rubber mat and padding to get it really clean and check for rust, not much rust found. I called toyota to see if they are able to get a new mat in black, no dice, they cant get it, and if they could, it would be $275 Now i am thinking of a few option for what to do for the floor. MAybe find a after market rubber mat, Carpet, or maybe even Rhino lining.
next we removed the nasty seat cover to see what we had to work with, now I will be reupholstering the seat, but it is nice to work with clean patterns, and my wife refused to sit on the seat and steer when i push the truck.:) With the help of a bottle of PowerBright, I got it looking the right color and clean.
Unfortunately I forgot to take pics of everything cleaned up and put back together .....

so next thing to to now is to find a starter and get the carb bolted up and get this thing driving!.:clapping:

OK guys, I just moved home! Whew, crazy. I started work on the old Hilux today. I pulled some of the stuff off of the engine bay. What all can I Eliminate when converting to Weber? I started to clean the in side of the engine bay and valve cover, I need to go to the junk yard and pick up a few parts. I was good to see the truck again.:)

so today I threw some tire shine on really quick to see what it would do and took a few pics
