Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself... I'm a little new at this so here is goes. I'm the wife of a Custom Taco mini trucker and I have now joined the encrypted world of the mini's.. I have an 87 standard toyota p/u lowered 3/3rims and exhaust it's not much but I had to start some where.. Soon to come will be the interior and paint/body work... This is all so exciting
Thanks to all and I posted some pics in my gallery if that helps for now... I will be ordering the interior when I get my tax money already filed just waiting on the return.. Thanks for the warm welcome. It's definitely a unique feeling to be a part of this crowd...
Welcome . . . Welcome to Toyotamini's ! Great looking project truck ! Especially because itsa 87' like mine ! Good Luck with the projects on your ride ! Cya in the forums ! L o w N l o u d
Thanks everyone for all the Warm Welcome's.. I'm glad to be a part of this forum... I have decided against getting a new Dooney Handbag in order to get new seats and carpeting for the mini I have some samples coming from stockinteriors.com for the carpeting and I'm going to hunt for some new seats when the tax funds arrive . It currently has celica (older style) buckets and they are worn and torn to the max so I'm looking for some accord or civic maybe even celica seats.. Please feel free to provide me with any suggestions you may have and advice on installation? I plan to also insulate the interior somthing similar to the process of Dynomat which personally I think is BLAH! So I'm looking for other options. Once again suggestions welcomed! Now as far as the dash goes it's not cracking or anything but I would like to cover it to match so I also need suggestions ... Thanks a bunch
i got a roll of carpet from pep boys that im going to line the back of my cab with... also doing it as a head liner and doors.. justa thought..
somes ideals . . . Well, when I did my interior soundproofing / insulation, I wasnt going to half-a*s it. I used the site http://www.yourautotrim.com/I found alot of really kewl samples for both my fabric on doors, headliner, and soundproofing/insulations. When I did the floor, I stripped everything out of it down to the bare metal, I scraped the crud & vacuumed it out, I then used a spray undercoater to cover everything. Then, I used the Thermozite Heat Shield Carpet Padding on the entire floor and the firewall ( some totally awesome stuff and hella easy to lay down. I installed a molded ( black ) carpet insert. Before I mounted my subwoofer box behind the seat I used 2 layers of dynamat original on the back of the cab, and 1 on the sides where the cab vents are. I then built my sub-box, installed it, sealed it with undercoater and dynamat extreme inside and out. After the box was installed I used the (black) 80" Wide Superflex Ozite Automotive Carpet and did everything from the floor up including the box really inexpensive and very good quality. So I did use dynamat, but I covered it so itll never be seen but, is in use. I ended up taking the jute back up and puting 1 layer of dynamat original on the floor then put then I put the carpet back down. Mind you this is hella overkill, But, my roadnoise is next to nothing, not even a new car is sealed up this tight and overall with carpeting cost me around 250 $. I went further and soundproofed the inside of the doors with spray noise blocker. So I dont hear anything but the music. L o w N l o u d
Yeah, I remember the day I brought my baby home, a replacement work truck for the 86 I totaled. Never thought it would someday look like it does now!! Welcome.
Yeah I can't wait all hubby has to do is bleed the breaks and change the oil one more time and it will be home... Trust I will be on the first ride around the block.. I have to say this is almost as exciting as getting a new car for me One more thing is that I have a stock radio for now :-(
For the sound deading, You can get 100sq ft of Fatmat for 129.99 its some really good stuff and cost a hell of a lot less then dynamat.
