so i just got a 94 rcsb and it has drop spindles in the front and mono leafed in the back and motegi 17" rims it looks very good but i would rather pull it up just a little for comfort. is there a way to keep the drop spindles but raise the front, it rides good just eating into the fender wells which are already cut, and whats the best combination for the rear to have a good ride.
tighten your torsion bars and it'll lift the front a little. the ride will get a little stiffer though. Does it have lowering blocks out back also or just monoleafed?
First off, welcome to TM! I like the way it sits. You didn't mention it so I'll ask, have you replaced the shocks? I have 2" drop spindles with Toxic drop shocks (haven't touched torsions) up front and 3" blocks with Toxic shocks and factory leaf springs in back. The ride up front is great, the back is rough. Like CinNAMmon suggested, 4wd fenders will take care of the rubbin issue.
theres a bit of difference between the fender wells and the splash guards. if its just hitting the splash guards, take the F'ers out. or you could re do the torsion bars and add a leaf.
4wd fenders should take care of that. i'm running 19's with a 35 series tire on it and there's no problem, and i ride a little lower than what your is at
fender wells? like the inner part of the well? hmm.. i haven't tried a mallet yet, you wanna try first? lol
The ride will likely NOT get rougher. Chances are that it in it's current state is very close to or on the bump stops, which will make it ride like poop. Raising it a bit will improve the ride. Except in the rear, where if it is not on blocks, adding a leaf to get altitude would make it slightly stiffer. Get used to drivng it? How do you get used to tearing up stuff?
well i havent had the time to take a good look at it im so busy working on everyone elses toyota (i work at a stealership) but i should have it in the shop tomorrow. i do want to keep it as low as i can but i still want to be able to make it down the back roads here in texas.
I hear ya. I had the same problem when I bought my truck. We have a lot of rough roads around here and I was rubbing the fronts on big bumps and that's with the splash guards removed. I raised the torsion bars slightly and installed some KYB's up front. I still have the air shocks out back and the ride is still a little too rough back there so I'm still searching for that fix as well.
so i found the fix for it i replaced the shocks in the back with some air shocks so i can keep the same height in the back or raise it up when on a good drive and cranked the torsion bars just a fuzz so the fronts wouldnt rub any more still looks good and low.
to be honest my buddy that works at orileys picked them up and i didnt really pay attention to what brand, and the ride is pretty smooth for a lowered truck it would lower the rear end but if your werent rough with it i bet it would be fine
