I have a question, I am about to lay down some POR-15 in my cab floor so I don't get rusted out. I want to know has any one ever layed it down before. All I ordered was the POR-15 and the POR-15 Marine Clean. I did not order the POR-15 Metal ready. Do I need to use the Metal ready or will it be fine if I just clean it with Marine clean and lay the POR-15. Should I sand it all the way down to the bare metal or just lay it over the paint.

remove all the loose bits, and get to at least shiny rust.

remove all the scaly rust, and scuff wherever your paint with a red scotch brite pad, clean it with wax and grease remover, tape off your edges, paint it, remove your tape, let it sit for 24 hours, put it back together and your DONE!!!

pretty easy stuff to do, and por-15 is the best rust preventative paint out there, your doing the right thing!

Far from the best. It helps keep it hidden with its hardness, but its not going to do miracles. Only way is to completely clean the metal and spray it with an etch primer or treating it with phosphoric acid, but on an 80's truck its going to be chasing rust after rust.
