ive got a delima on my hands now. i took the truck to a mechanic/toyota nut/friends shop to see if we could possibly get my toy running correctly. well after messing wiht and messing with it we discovered that it was running hot. which i thought was kinda odd since i just put coolant in it the other day when i puit the intake manifold back on. well it turned that there was hardly any coolant in it and when added more it wouldnt start. AT ALL. checked spark, fuel pressure, injector pulse, and then we checked the oil. and it was nice and milky. freakin awesome. then we got looking some more and some off the water was coming out of the exhaust manifold. nice so i have a head gasket to change and possibly the head. in talking with him after we discovered this he told me that with another guys truck he had the same symptoms and it turned out to be a cracked block on the inside. so freaking great now i have the possibilty of having to change the motor out.

    heres my delima:shrug:
do i keep the truck (which i do like and would like to bd it one day) and fix the issues or do i just try and sell it and cut my losses. i have spent a metric **** ton of money on here lately trying to figure out what my other issues were and it has near about broke me. i really dont know what to do since im torn in both directions

    i just dont know:shrug:

Does your truck have the 22re or V6 motor?? If its the 22re then I would replace the head gasket & take the head to a machine shop to check it for being warped. If the head is good then I would fix it or if you can find a motor for cheap then swap it out. Id do whatever it takes to fix it cause that model/body style truck is getting harder to find. Everytime I drive my truck someone always ask me if I want to sell it cause its different. :)

if its a 22r-e the heads like to crack on the number 3 cylinder could be the issue and i have heard the v6 likes to blow head gaskets a lot.. just because he had one issue of the block being cracked doesn't mean that's the problem

i fixed my blown gasket/bad head for a little less than $200. just watched craigslist and found a freshly machined head for $90, and bought the gasket kit from napa for $100.

Was it running before? you said you just put the intake on. theres a couple hoses under the intake on the EFI, vacuum and water, if those get crossed connected you'll fill the engine with coolant.

i have the 22re in it. the v6s are bad for blowing head gaskets which is why i didnt get one of them. yes i realize that just because my friend had that problem doesntmean that i will have the same issue but it shows the same signs as the one he had to replace.

the truck was running not very well but running then i was attempting to get everything cleaned and replaced to make it run better which included cleaning out the intake.
