Anyone ever try a 4runner (90-95) hitch on their truck? There's a local guy selling one for pretty cheap and I was curious if would just simply bolt on to our trucks?
im not sure but a simple fact is that the 4 runner is 4wd and im almost positive the frames are different, but im no expert. so i would say no it wont bolt in but it could fit close enough for you to bracket it in.
i am 90% sure it will bolt right up. as long as your truck and the donor are from the same generation it should work, just take a peek underneath and make sure that they look the same or it isnt one of those U-haul "custom bolt on". but the truck and the 4rnr ARE from the same frame, in fact the easiest way to lower a 4rnr is to swap the body onto a 2wd frame. tho i will say that after the taco's were introduced they stopped sharing so much, i think
they are not the same frame! true you can put a 4runner body on a 2wd frame (from the same gen, im in the process of doing it now) but only the front 4 body mounts line up, all the rest you have to fab to make them work. so i would guess that it wont bolt up
ok let me rephrase that... the frame rails are the same, body mounts may differ, but bumper mounts remain the same. iirc the rear bumper slides into the frame rails, right? and i think its kinda nutty that the front 4 for a 4rnr match up with a 2wd when a 2wd (cab) doesnt match up with a 4wd. learned sumtnin today
