Amazing transformation. From tired looking Corona to b****en Corona just like that. Great job.:waytogo: But the AE86 is a decent ride, my friend rolls one as a street-legal drift machine. Custom tuned with the JDM 4AGEU and all the other goodies that make a real tuner and not a ricer. Just what the doctor ordered to clear up some confusion around Lake Elsinore, CA.

Well, there are differences between real tuners and ricers; tuners have performance parts and look fast... ricers however, have no performance parts and try to look fast.*

Anyway, my friend with the AE86 has the JDM engine in it, the more powerful than US market 4AG-EU with tons of go-fast goodies under the hood. Somewhat like JDM sleeper style.

*I am an enthusiast in the real import tuning scene rather than the poser s***. I've actually studied what makes real tuners... but I prefer the sleeper look for these vehicles, less of a cop magnet and OE styling is usually better and stronger.

    nope, still confused

no where in this whole thread is a AE86 or a rolla mentioned till you brought it up 3 post's up. i just dont understand the refrence, i agree with the mind set that 90% of the people out there "building" their cars are really just F'n up what was better in factory spec. but im, just not following you on how it applies.

    some updates

noticed that my lower hose was bulging pretty good, and looked close to poping. so i ripped the thermostat out and saw it was all covered in a gunky rusty paste looking crap then threw it in a pot of boiling water for a while. never opened, so i rodded out the valve and stuck it back in. now during hard driving im seeing temps around 170, which is better but its still overheating a bit. i really need a A/F gauge, gonna try to not drive it that much till i get one and learn how to use it.

then i headed to my garage with the plan of tearing into the parts truck, and instead pulled out the heated springs from the wagon. can anyone else tell this was a bad idea?

threw in some other springs after i cut 3 coils off, then headed to the free wall to snap a few pics.

this one is from a couple weeks ago
    [IMG]

these are from today, lil lower up front and i got my rake back

so im supposed to be doing body work on the hilux, but i cant stop F'n with the wagon :D

so first i took off the small maxima fan, it might work for a normal motor, but the SC creates too much heat for it. ill let everybody know if it does work on a normal motor ( gonna try it on the lifted celica)

now i forgot to take a pic before i started hacking at it, but this is what i cut off with the "accurate saw" from a 97+ bmw 2 speed 17in pusher fan (mounts to front of radiator)

it could not fit more perfect, i didnt have to cut a bit of the wagon :clapping:

for refrence, the maxima fan resided on the inside in this itty bitty 3.5in gap
    [IMG]

runs a bit cooler now, but i think im gonna go get me a 3 core radiator, i wanna have issues warming up the motor.

then i noticed that the rear tires on the wagon were $hite. turns out that after i "heat cycled" the tires they dont last too long and were looking scary.

happen to have a vid of the "heat cycle" from 3 years ago here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMCjqau341I&feature=channel_page

so i started looking at the uber rare 15in supras sitting on my "needs a Tcover gasket super bad" celica. then i said F it and slapped em on the wagon.

very happy with the look now, it looks like it tucks harder now but its just a illusion, overal diameter is the same, just more wheel and less tire now.

now looking at the pics, the rake is a lil too much for me. im either gonna put taller springs in the front or take the 2in blocks out and put in 3in. we'll see. i might just not do anything, we'll see how much it bugs me.

ps: you can jus see the front of the hilux i havent worked on in a week in the last pic:lol:

i only have the one mirror.

and if i remember correctly its from a datsun 720, if that isnt right, its from a datsun something. that im sure of, datsun... something, 78-84 ish. found in a yard.

kinda pisses me off i cant find a yota chrome mirror thats a direct fit, and i broke the oem mirror, or my honda motorcycle broke the mirror, either way it erks me.

think the square mirror doesnt fit with the round body, but i love chrome anything so im mostly happy... mostly.

ps: bernie the SC can be had easy through LC for something like $3k:looney:

i skimmed over alot of this but read alot too. sweet build. i want to do a 2nd or 3rd gen rolla wagon similar to this. but probably wont. anyways, you said that style wheel only came in 14x6 and 14x7...i have found a set of 14x8s before at the junkyard. on a celica supra. i know, because i wanted the tires. 235/60/14s. woulda fit nice on my lux if i had a wider steelie out back.

anyways, my vote is dump the back a little more. then the front. then the back again. :D
