Anyone know if stock taillight assemblies are made for our trucks in CHROME? I can only seem to find the black, painted silver type. Anything that I've seen chrome are the euro type or LED's and i want to use clear or red/clear stock type lenses.

might cost a bit, but can't you get the euro housing and use the stock lense?

Would be a nice option, but, Ive searched the world all over for em'. I was also in the market for a chrome tailgate pull, but, NO LUCK! Only thing to do, like BURNZYA said is to either pull out the lens and stick it in a euro, OR, pull out the lens and chrome the plastic yourself ( Ive never tried it, but, Im dying to ) that SHONUFF posted in his thread here recently - http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2725&highlight=plastic . . .

I know what he's talking about. Well, my truck still has the factory tails. I opened mine up to find out that the silver paint just comes off with one swipe of hte fingertip. Sooo guess what i did. Well my mom works at composites repair at work. One summer day she gives me this nice big roll of aluminum tape. This is aircraft grade material. Not the walmart foil tape. So i put this on my reflectors. Everything... is brighter!!

It's not true chrome though, but its close.

How does it look girl?! Do you have any pictures of what it looks like when you're done? That might fix things. I want the reflection to really show throught the red/clears that I have. When I first noticed the silver paint coming off, I repainted them with a base coat of gloss black and then "fogged" on a coat of that fake chrome paint. It came out pretty good... but fake chrome paint?!! I have to come up with something better.

    Don't worry about it.

How much were those 350Z wheels? I've been looking everywhere for those touring wheels.

One of the xcab members here had clear tail light lenses that would be in place of the OEM housing..

So back to the beginning, You want a clear lenses, with a chrome housing, but you will use LED cluster replacing the bulbs?

What you can also do is get the Clear tail light lenses, and use RC car Lexan paint Candy Red. This is polycarbonate paint and it "bonds" with plastic pretty well... i'm using it so far and it does great.

But you can use this paint to "red" the part on the clear lenses that you want to make red.

^ THAT was confusing, but i hope you get the idea

Someone had that in one of their build logs. I forget who it was, but they had clear tails and painted the bulb area red so you could see it. I think it was in the 84-88s build logs.

I got lucky and found them on craigslist about 10 months ago. The guy had them posted everywhere for almost 500 bucks. After a while and no offers, the price started to come down. I ended up getting them for $320.00 without tires. They're not perfect but they were exactly what I wanted. I originally bought them for a truck I picked up from SDYOTA, but it seems someone else wanted the truck more than me, and after only 2 weeks, stole it the week of THANKSGIVING! I came across Lil Red and the rest is history. As far as the taillights, I want the housings chrome or as chrome as possible, so they reflect better and brighter through the JDM half red/clears that I got from Thailand. The other route I might go is with all clears and paint the chrome housings with transparent red paint like we did with SDYOTA's.:D
