so i had forgotten about this "ooops" i made back when i installed the 5 speed tranny and cracked the top of the shifting base where the boot seals up the top. this has caused an annoying leak from the top... seeping oil all through the rear output of the tranny.

if anyone has a spare base for the 5 speed shifter please let me know how much you want for it and where i can pick it up or how much to ship it. it'd be appreciated. thanks.

What tranny is that?

 

i think its a w55 if i remember correctly......... w55, w56, and w58 are all the same i think. came out of a 93 2wd pickup...

Im pretty sure you can order one from toyota. They carry all the tranny parts for my 78'

 

that piece has leaked on my truck since I put my short shifter on.. mine leaks from the pins the shifter pivots on.

 

I will have one available after I get my engine rebuilt, around the end of June.

 

this tranny has no leaks other than the VERY minimal oil seeping out of the top of this whenever i run it fast enough to toss the oil up there. i only noticed it about 3 months ago but it wasnt such a big deal untill now since it was right there........ so i dropped it and am trying to see what i can do about it.

i may mold some JB weld onto it and see if that works.
