Was reading over the threads and can't seem to find an answer.
Do the 4X4 fenders bolt right on a 2WD, do you need to change the front bumper, and is there a difference between the 4X4 and the 4Runner fenders.
I'm trying to get more clearance for my front tires, I'm running 225/40 18's on my 94.
    Thanks for your help!

The fenders are the same on a truck and runner... and yes they will bolt right on except for the front support bracket. You could probably use a spacer to fill in the gap caused by the flare of the fender in the front corner... I just swapped the brackets too...
also the bumper will not be as wide as the new fenders... I swapped to a runner bumper...
the corner lights are also different the 2wd ones do not fit...

Just a side note, the outer bumper supports don't just bolt up either. Not sure what the fix is just yet, but I'm sure it's simple...

i have a question to add. will there be a big gap where the fender meets the door? i want to do the 4x4 front, but that's the part i'm afraid of.

Nick, are you talking about a visible gap from the outside? Or when the door is open, looking forward to the wheel from inside the truck?

Ok, the fenders will fit. I was just making sure, when I was measuring I forgot the corner lights are flipped per say. Thanks

The fenders have to be from 92 -95 correct?

Now the question is, do I need to use the 4x4 bumper, if so can I retain my 2wd grille?

    Thanks, JIM

the fenders are 89-95 and the 2wd bumper is not as wide as the 4wd fenders... So yes I would swap bumpers... and yes you can keep the 2wd gille...

And Lit you need to swap the corner bumper/fender support from a 4wd to fit right

a visible gap with the doors closed. are the 4wd fenders only wider in the front and the same width as the 2wd where they meet the door (so they fit flush)? or are they wider then the 2wd fenders where they meet the door?

No, they are the same physical size everywhere except the flare around the wheel well. Where as the 2wd isn't flared at all, the 4wd fender is flared like the all of the 2wd AND 4wd beds.

When I swapped my front end the corner lights stuck out past the regular grille. Are the corner lights for a 4wd pickup different than ones for a 4runner?

    once again check this thread...
    http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=257&highlight=bumper

The corner lights of a 4wd pickup come in two styles 89-91 and 92-95
the trim around the lens is thicker on the 92-95...
the 2wd received a style change the same years... so I believe a 89-91 2wd grille will mate with a 89-91 4wd corner and a 92-95 2wd grille will mate with a 92-95 4wd corner and vice versa...

As for the runner the 90-91 grille matched the 89-91 4wd pickup but in 92 the runner got its own grille and corners with composite headlights... totally different and not interchangeable with any pickup grille parts... the entire setup can be swapped to a pickup (which I am in the process of) but none of the pieces will work with the pickup ones

Ok, so let me get this straight. Not trying to be stupid or anything.
If I can only get a 4runner fender from a 91, does that mean I can't use my 94 2wd grille? If I can't use my grille will a 89-91 grille work on my truck?

The fenders are all the same... 89-95 4wd truck and 90-95 4runner use the same exact fender...

Just the grilles, bumpers, corner lights vary from model to model year to year...

If you want to keep your 2wd grille you will need 92-95 4wd pickup corners... they should fit...

Your bumper will fit but the flare of the new fender will hang over the ends of your bumper...
the 92-95 4wd pickup bumper has a "dip" in the center for the 4wd grille (which I don't think your grille has) so you should use either a 89-91 3 piece 4wd bumper or a 92-95 4runner bumper so it is as wide as the new fenders and leaves no gap under your 2wd grille...

you should look at photos of trucks online and compare before you decide....

Honestly the best looking front end IMHO is the 92-95 4runner with composite headlights... only downside is drilling to mount the composite headlight and the headlights are 9004 bulbs not h4 so the headlight plug needs to be changed also... this swap requires bumper, bumper mounts, grille, corners, headlights, and headlight plugs...

the simplest swap for you... 92-95 4wd pickup corners and either the 89-91 4wd 3 piece bumper and mounts or the 92-95 4runner bumper and mounts...

by the way any mention of a bumper assumes the valance too and each bumper has it's own type of valance and would need to be swapped with the respective bumper

Thank you all for the info. I just wish I could find some fenders at a low cost. Went to several junk yards and there doesn't seem to be any pickups, 4x4, or 4runners there, as my son says, you picked a truck that will last forever and I guess he right!!! :D

PatriotPop, Check PartsTrain. Should be around $75-85 each side for CAPA certified (a must).

These are off of a 91 4runner and any 4x4 truck corner lights will work for the swap. However the 92-95 4runner lights are just a little different. Due to match up with the flush headlights of the 4runner.

Dont mind the gap between my lights. I didnt adjust the fenders correctly when i put them on.
