I was thinking, if i can find a ext. cab somewhere, in good shape, I might take off the reg cab and replace it w/a ext cab. what do ya think?

I tried searching high and low for a pic but couldn't find one. I do think with JC Whitney's stature they would have a satisfaction guarantee. my 2cents

It's what I want to do. I used to have a std cab and I really don't want to go back. Find a Toyota specialized recycling center in your area. they will most likely have a cab ready to be swapped- mine have several. My biggest concern is the VIn change because the DMV/police might have a problem when the VIN from the cab doesn't match the frame/dually set up. I'm sure there's some paperwork to be filed or something.

I say do the extra-cab swap & put the long bed on too...I myself have an extra-cab & just bought a longbed to this same conversion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the bed on those crewcab dually trucks a custom piece? In the photograph of the second example, you can clearly see the seams of the massively flared rear fenders. Probably a long bed cut up with fiberglass pieces rivetted to it. Great trucks, but clearly money was not an factor in their creation. In fact they were probably funded by some tuner company as a demo car.

I've looked at this picture a few times . . . The fenders off this truck look like they come from a chevy dually. Ide got to the wrecking yard try and find one that is half way intact and see if you can play around with it to fit , maybe do some trimming and fiberglassing and I would be willing to bet, that because of the popularity of these flares you could get them cheap enough to apply them to your ride by making a mold of the first one and then copying it upon your new ones

( Ill getcha the link of a guy that does fiberglass )

Not a problem. I found a 1ton dually and took measurements and then checked them against my truck. the 1ton chasis has a 10" longer wheel base than the extended cab chasis. I could take a extended cab and trow it on the 1ton chasis but there would still be a 10" gap between the bed and cab.
    extended cab wheelbase: 126"
    1ton wheelbase: 136"
1ton chasis from aft edge of door to rear axle: 69"

wonder if you could stretch a extended cab 10" for more legroom for the back seat?

They sell the everything to make a toyota pickup truck into a dually including the fenders for that truck for $545.00 a pair which is an excellent price. Give them a call, they wont answer emails.

That dually should be a lot of fun. I wonder if people drag race duallies, or if having two separate tires on each rear corner makes the thing unpredictable, in high hp setups.
