Hey guys, I just picked up a '93 Toyota pickup 2WD for free. Yup, for free. It needs a new motor (but my family has 3 Toyota pickups with 22R or 22RE motors.) The rest of the truck is pretty straight. But, like the rest of you, I'm looking for info, ideas, and inspiration on what direction to take the truck. Looking forward to conversing with all of you. -Nick
Welcome to the club. Honestly, if you want my imput I say turn it into a corner carver. If I had more money, I'd build mine to hunt WRXs at track days. Here's how I'd go about it. Belltech Drop Spindles to drop the front 2" Belltech Drop Leaf Springs to drop the rear 3" Belltech front and rear swaybars Thicker (I think 26mm?) torsion bars in the front. I'd call Downey Offroad and get a 7.5" limited slip differential. Traction bars, multiple vendors have them available. Polyurethane Bushings everywhere (Energy Suspension & Daystar) Front camber set around 1 degree negative, to eliminate all understeer in dry conditions. Power steering with a faster than stock ratio. LC Engineering short throw shifter Northwest Offroad heavy duty W-56 transmission 8" tires in the front, 10" tires in the back. Fiberglass 4wd style front fenders & hood Big brake kit with dashboard mounted adjustable brake bias. Custom made adjustable setting Koni Shocks (Reds or Yellows I think.) As for the powerplant, the sky is the limit, small block 350s can be bolted to a W56, as can the 7MGTE, or if you wanted to keep it a four banger, you could get a turn key monster 22R from LC Engineering. If I ever win the lotto, expect to see a 250+HP, Porsche slaying pickup in the New York area.
