So, that being said, i have a 1997 Hilux. sadly, even tho it's newer, it looks like a 92. anyways, it's slow (it has a 2.0, not a 22RE) and rough. it's a prior military owned/ operated vehicle. but it's white. lol. anyways, long story short, i'll find some pics soon. looking forward to meeting new and exciting... blah blah blah. this looks like a nice forum... blah blah blah. lol, i know. it's actually a utility truck. it used to have bars across the rear window, but i cut them off. i would have tried to get a different truck, but this the only yota that i've seen for sale. i paid $2,500 and i've had it for like 2 weeks. oh well. i only got it so i can put my bike in it for track days. Skip - your signature block is HUGE! sick looking, tho.
those stock rims look like 78-81 celica rims, i bet those center caps would fetch a pretty penny on e-bay. for that matter you should be sending parts shipments to me weekly

The bed with the lip is one of my favorites! Don't knock 'em too bad. And the latch tailgate?! Don't get me started on those. I didn't realize they had them on that body style though, I'll be looking for one for my next project...
do you have access to 80's, 70's parts? how would you ship? naw i want some chrome bumpers, my celica would look much better in chrome
it will take a little bit to find parts like that, but they're available. depending on the size of the package, i normally ship via USPS priority. it'll take about 7 days depending on where you are in the US. should be about 7-8 days to ship to seattle. send me your chassis code and i'll look for parts.
ok, i finally got some wheels (17"). 120 bucks isn't bad for a set of 4 w/ tires! some time this week i'll be getting a 4x4 4runner bumper (chrome bumper, gunmetal valance) for free, so i'll post up pics of that when i get it done. also, i'm thinking about dropping the front, but i don't want to lose any ride "quality" (LOL!). should i just do springs or loosen the torsion bars? i'm trying to stay relatively "cheap," so i don't want to do spindles or control arms. i'm also debating a motor swap. how easily do turbo I6s fit under the hood? also, ShoNuff: i'm still looking for that bumper for you and am still looking for a good junk yard.
The I6 swaps aren't easy, but they are doable. If you are concerned about ride quality you can lower it by turning the torsion bars, the only problem with that is that you will (depending on how far you go) hit the bump stops. This can get quite annoying. An inch or so is about all you can go before it starts to become a problem. Stiffer torsion bars can alleviate this problem, but they are just a band-aid and will also make the ride stiffer by 30% or so (sway-away brand).
hmmm... i'll give the torsion bars a try, hopefully it will meet my needs. as far as the motor swap goes, i'm thinking about either an RB20 or an SR20. the reason being the turbo will be on the passenger side. i really don't want the hot side on my side. i also thought about a V6, but i want to keep the engine a 2.0. plus, i can get SRs an RBs all day long and cheap. just find some idiot noob that thinks he can drift, wait for him to wreck his car and boom, damn near free motor and tranny. either that, or i'll try to find a 4AG to throw in there. idk, it's still just a thought. lol.
4AGEs sound ****ing mean. I say get a supercharged GZE and go nuts. Nice ride man, I want your truck's grille, looks so much better than the one I've got.
