its been done, but there are more deserving motors that will have more drivability, potential, and better gas mileage. But if you got the money, go for it. search on the web for SBC swap Toyota pickup, you'll find alot

Ya like he said.^^^ There's lots of threads on this site that talk about different options for motors that will give just as much or more power than a SBC. You will also be able to have some sort of fuel economy still too. Not trying to change your mind, just letting you know what's out there. ;)

what other engines would you put in? If you want real low end torque and good horsepower for a truck i'd say a pushrod v8 is the way to go

as far as cost the cheapest swap would be the chevy v-8, and you should still get decent mileage. if you wanted cool (in a toyota lovers eyes) a 7m-gte would give you about the same as a stock chevy. a 2jz te would give you 280 ponies stock, but the potential of the motor is amazing, and theres nothing better than spanking a v-8 chevy with a straight six toyota.

Contact Downey Off-Road Mfg for small block Chevy engine conversions or Northwest Off-Road Specialties for small block Ford engine conversions. These companies have the most experience and all the parts you will need.

I guess i should say if you would put a v8 in your toyota truck i'd say definitely go with a small block chevy. those are undoubtedly great performance engines with endless possibilities. The supra engine would be totally badass tho. It would probably hook up alot better than a V8 in such a light vehicle. What drew me to toyota trucks was their reliability, durability and economy, not their performance..they are very utilitarian. I just never thought of them as hot rods.
