What do you think this car is worth? It has just under 180 miles but has been sitting for at least 2 years. Interior is supposed to be immaculate. It has quite a bit of rust showing in the pics. What do you guys think?
I wouldn't give much for it. It looks to need a lot of attention bodywise, and the engine is just at the age where the head gasket fails. Once you buy it, it will still cost a lot to clean up. If it has the original engine with no work done, I wouldn't pay more than a grand, personally. I'm sure he's asking more than that.
not to be a dick but if you dont have alot of time and money dont get a mk3 supra ive been helping my buddy work on 1 for 2 year and we finally got it running, ive helped him out with some parts and other things hence why my own car and truck arent road worthy yet plus if its n/a they are slow as hell, my 85 celica beat one
Well the reason I'm looking for something like this for cheap is one of two reasons: 1) is to either make it a project for me and my son to work on and then he can have it when he's 16 or 2) if the car isn't worth fixing I can pull the motor and put it in my truck. I have been emailing back and forth with this guy and he was origianlly wanting to get about $2500-3000. I told him I couldn't offer anywhere near that. I told him it's basically a parts car worth between $800-1400 so I guess I'm not out to lunch after what you guys have said. I told him if he needs cash I'll go look at it and we can talk from there.
get a 82-85 celica perferably a 85 gts cause it has the later style 22re your truck has and pats are cheap and easy to come by you'll thank me later my friend with the mk3 supra loves my car but hates it cause mines cheap and hella simple to work on, his not so much
Ya I hear ya, I'd prefer an older Celica but they are pretty rare up here.(Most are gone to the shredders because of rust.) Actually my truck has a V6 so I could put that motor in mine and it wouoldn't much different than what I'm working on now. If I find a Celica in nice shape, you can bet I'm going to grab it.
They're pretty far away from you, but here's a couple in awesome shape for their age- If I had a place for it, I'd own the '83 by now. http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Toyota-1979-TOYOTA-CELICA-SUPRA-5-Speed-Great-Shape-2700-OBO-W0QQAdIdZ119680842 http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Toyota-Toyota-Celica-GT-W0QQAdIdZ119231654
Thx!!! Ya I was checking CL today and found some out west there but I didn't check Kijiji. There is a guy selling a 78 here that doesn't look quite as nice as the silver one for $3000. I thought he was out to lunch until I saw this 79. He's only about 5 bills off. Hmmmmm, the only thing it's an automatic. One thing I didn't realize was these came with 4 wheel disc brakes? I guess I shouldn't be suprised since it is Toyota. I really like that 83 too and the price is right. I could fly down there for pretty cheap and drive it back. Hmmmm.
My new winter beater!!!!! What do guys think of my latest purchase? I totalled my last winter beater(Honda Accord) in February and came across this. Now come the fall I can park my truck again so it doesn't have to see the snow. I paid $350 for it and drove it home. It's in pretty decent shape but needs a few things to make it a good daily driver like 4 struts and a cv. This site was to blame, or should I say you guys are to blame for getting me hooked on some of these older Toyota cars. I'm still keeping my eyes open though for a nice older Celica project. Damn you celica83_gts, I am really thinking about that 83! Did you see this one? http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1979-Toyota-Celica-GT-W0QQAdIdZ115045860
I hear ya, but this will be my winter beater so a FWD will be better for me, especially since I'm on the highway everyday. I agree that 79 looks real nice for the price. Wish it was a little closer.
Sorry man! (not!) I have the same sickness, space (and marriage) is all that limits my fleet. I keep thinking I'd like to sell off my Yotas and get a muscle car, but I always seem to find more of 'em. Someday, I'll have a Nova, Camaro, or Firebird....with a 2JZ. Nice find on the 'rollla....I loved those cars from the day they came out. BTW, I called about the Celi, it's solid but has some scrapes on the passenger side, so it's not perfect...hope that helps you get it off your mind.
OOPS! My bad, I watched Initial D that day when they were talking about a 5 valve AE101 racing engine in an AE86, I remembered after I posted it was a AE92.
Jeeeeez!!!! You son of a *$#*@!!!!! J/K man. If I get kicked out of the house I'm coming out there to live with you. LOL.
