I got a question for y’all. I haven’t looked into it yet but I wanted to get some opinions. So I’ve been driving my truck on the streets. Only local nothing over 20 miles away from home. This weekend I decided to take it to Temecula for a car meet with some buddies. And when I got there my idle was high. When I parked it was high and when I was engaging the clutch to shift you can hear the high idle.however. At some points it did idle normally like when I first turn it on but once I press the accelerator it stays high. Any ideas? My best guess is tps or something throttle body. Maybe linkage stop screw.

Throttle was acting up on my 22re truck - turned out to be just a dirty throttle body. Start with the basics and go from there

First things first, carby or EFI?

EFI; could be dirty, corroded, or worn cable. Cablr end "ball" not properly installed into linkage. Check the return springs on the throttle body, they do break. Dashpot malfunctioning could do this. Debris on throttle close limit screw. TPS bad or needing adjustment. Dirty or worn throttle body. Vacuum leak. Or just the dumbest thing you can overlook, floor mat creeping up onto the throttle pedal.

Carby; throttle cable dirty or broken or binding, return spring, dirty carb, linkage binding, vacuum leak, dash pot, fuel level in the carb.

If you get it figgered oot, let us know what it was.

^haha, I love the Reddit r/justrolledintotheshop for pics of stuff like that when techs get to diagnose dumb stuff like that. One of my favorites is the "loose steering" and they've got one of those fluffy covers on it that's loose
