Hey guys. I for some reason have no power to anything except the high beams which I believe are on a separate circuit. Last week the reman starter went out because the positive post to the starter broke for some reason. It got the ground and positive wire all hot and melted which have since been replaced. I put the new starter in and it fired right up and I drove it for another 5 days. Then I had came out the next day and turned the key and had 0 power to anything except the highbeams. I really am clueless on what to look for. I tested and there’s no power going to the coil.
Not sure what year truck you have. The early 2nd generation trucks came with two thermal links (wires). One for headlights and one for ignition. I’m sure if you melted wires near the starter that would be enough to melt a link also. Check near your positive battery terminal. You should see two wires piggybacked to that terminal. Follow them and look for any discoloration or melted coverings.
Thank you so much. The pigtail looked okay but one wire was completely disconnected. I re soldered it and it’s good to go. Up and running again. Thanks again!
