Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone had converted their system from an R12 to R134a and how they went about it. My a/c isn’t blowing out cold and I don’t know if I should just do a simple conversion or if I should replace the whole system.
    Any advice would be helpful!

If it works just convert it, it’s super easy to do, just new fittings that thread to the old ones, new oil and gas. I’m quite sure you only use 80% of the factory charge though.

Converting from R12 to R134a involves flushing the existing system, replacing the receiver-drier and expansion valve, and installing new O-rings designed for R134a compatibility. Ensure the compressor is compatible or replace it. Evacuate any remaining R12, vacuum the system, and charge it with the appropriate amount of R134a. While a conversion can work, assessing the overall condition of your A/C system is crucial. If components are worn or damaged, a complete system replacement might be more effective for long-term reliability. Consult a professional mechanic for a thorough evaluation and personalized advice based on your specific situation.

    The above is correct!
I changed mine back in 2014, it worked fine for a few years , but in time a new compressor is in order.
I got all the parts on line, including a gauge set & also a sniffer which works great finding any leaks!!
