Hi, I have a 1973 hilux with the stock 18r engine. I don't daily drive it, but the last time I went to take it out the charging light came on. I have since tried a new alternator and a very clean, used regulator. But it seems like the voltage when running is still at 11. Are there any tests I can do to narrow down this gremlin? It's as if the alternator won't turn on, which was why I thought it was the regulator. but now I'm stumped. Any help, ideas would greatly be appreciated, thank you!

How is your wire from the alt to the battery?

You may have to track down the charge light wire and see if its shorted. It turns on when one end is grounded.

    see if this helps

Condition & age of the battery?
A bad battery will kill alternator!
Have the battery tested, voltage ,acid, & load tested!
