The modded turbo is back! Also got the new pistons and some other goods in. Tuesday I'll take the block to the shop to get it bored for the new pistons.
In the next week I should be getting the rest of the parts needed. Soon, hopefully, things will be taking off!
    Exciting times abound

It has been a rough week.

Dropped the pistons and block off at the machine shop, and found out that the bore on the block is already too big. I have no idea how my .020 over block got to near .060 over, but that means my .040 pistons will not work. I have no idea if it was always way over bored from the start from LCE (was always kinda loud) or whether somehow it miraculously bored itself.
So it looks like I'm on the hunt for a new block.
Used and rebuilt blocks are very hard to find and expensive right now it seems. I did manage to find a shop in so-cal that will cast a new block to all the specs I want and can get it to me in 3 days, but it is $$$.

I have a lot of thinking and searching to do now.

That's super suspicious tho.. did you check the compression when it was running?

I did a compression test, and it came out just below stock minimum. I thought that might be due to the larger bore and dished pistons, but maybe I just had blowby on all cylinders. 4th happened to be the one bad enough to really cause problems.

I'm in the middle of another project that will be taking most of the time, and will be finishing it on the 28th, so I have 3 1/2 weeks to ponder on what my best option is.

Finally got some parts to finish up the head work! Mostly it was just the new valve keepers I was waiting for. The valves I already lapped to their seats.

New phone was stuck in B&W mode

They're duals from LCE with Ti retainers and hardened keepers. Valves are oversized SS from the DOA head.

Going back to a stock manifold. Peraonally, I think it looks much better than the LCE one. I mocked things up to get a better idea of how the hoses will run.

The downturn joint needs some treatment, but everything else is looking nice.

New block! Took it to the machine shop this morning. Soon it will be back in my garage and the fun can really begin!

I finally have (almost) all of my parts for the engine rebuild. I picked up the block yesterday, and got the crank and pistons all installed.

The machinist said that he took a little off the top to flatten it, so I decided to get an adjustable timing cog to correct for anything that may be thrown off.

Worked out a schematic for a 40 LED tach, and am planning out a custom dash.
